[1302] The Sincerity Of One’s Pursuit
└ posted on Wednesday, 3 November 2021, by Novil
- Larisa: You will play an own composition. Something truly epic! Something that will be remembered for generations!
- Larisa: I will write the song!
- Cloud: Hmm… what do you say, Hannes, are you in?
- Hannes Dörflinger: Not the splendor of success, but the sincerity of one’s pursuit and the faithful perseverance in one’s duty, even when the result does not manifest itself on the surface, determines the value of every soul on the Day of Judgement.
- Sandra: I guess that means “Yes.”
- Zoey: With me, splendid success is guaranteed!
Ach, c’mon! Zoey agree to sing Larisa’s song!? A sucubus and angels together!!??
What Could Possibly Go Wrong? :-p
I readed this joke in a strip of Forges (one of the greatest graphic humoristian of my country) a long time ago.
It’s good to see that the good humour endures like a Mozart’s concert and not fly like a vuvuzela in world cup.
If i remember well Cloud plays main guitar, Hans bass, Sandra drummers and Zoey as the singer, don’t it?
@ Hegel Marx:
Holy Church, i didn’t think in that O.O

Cloud plays keyboard, Hannes the guitar.
Beautiful words, Hannes. Well said! 👏 👏 👏
@Novil
…shouldn’t it be “*your own composition”? As far as I can tell, that’s what the German version says…
I very much like the reference to Count von Moltke. It is said that he laughed twice in his life. First time when his mother in law died and second time when he saw the Swedish fortress at Vaxholm.
@ Hegel Marx:
it worked well in good omens 🤭😆
Well, we have:
– a warrior/samurai/knight
– an arsonist hellish creature
– a poet with a nationalist sister (of the warmongering type)
– an (ALMOST) sweet girl with a talking raccon
– an egocentric, good-at-kissing, tennis player
Your band is “The freaks”? “The impossible ones”? I don’t know, but I know every day more why I love Sandra and woo….
That is a surprisingly great idea from Larissa. I am curious what the song will be.
@ CommonMarble:
I think she should say ‘play our own composition’ – given she then volunteers, sorry – insists, that she in fact will write it.
“An own” isn’t the right idiom. “Your own” “our own” would work better.
@ FantasiaWHT:
“An original composition” would also work.
@ Maddragon:
I said the Wat who is nearly like them

Ah, i was wrong. Thank you.

But better in Dogma
And there was a comic when a girl have a demon and a angel who try to protect her (it was a comedy, the girl will be better without any of them)
@ Marteri:
Technically, Moltke’s mother in law was his sister; he married her stepdaughter.
@ Hegel Marx:
Wait, Zoey’s an angel? I missed that storyline… where’s it start?
Florence Foster Jenkins has been remembered for generations . . . and that’s a good thing!
@ Maddragon:
The Impossibles. A Hanna-Barbara sixties-seventies cartoon, featuring Coil Man, Fluid Man, Multi Man. A world-famous musical trio that are also top spies. We’ve had Flintstones movies, Underdog, I want The Impossibles! impossibles – Impossibles – IMPOSSIBLES! (as their theme song goes!)
Larissa is writing a song … for someone who humilated her to sing in public …
Yes, much evil incoming.
@ demarion:
i remember them! But i preferred frankenstein junior …. ah, memories of youth …
@ Harmony:
she isn´t really an angel, she just got an ‘angelic’ voice….Larissa is totally a demon though 😉
@ Harmony:
@ Peya Luna:
And she cast angels when sing.
Larissa don’t but she have enough reputation in hell to all the demons go when she whistles (and the security she will be their new boss hepl)
@ FantasiaWHT:
I’d call it a bit archaic and formal, but still correct.
Why do I feel like Larisa is setting Zoey up?
@ Aika Asakura:
For the same reason you think your head gets wet in the rain.
Will we ever get to see Hannes’ face? Or is this a reference to his being so ‘highbrow’ that his thoughts are beyond the comprehension of mere mortals–like German philosophers in general?
@ AnotherBear:
I was going to write: “Not all German philosophers are that difficult!” Then I started looking for a counterexample: Kant? -No, not really. -Schopenhauer? -No. Hegel? -Are we serious here? Wittgenstein? -Ok, this is becoming a joke. Thomas a Kempis? -Definitely not, and he is a theologician, moreover.
Luther is about the only German philosopher who wrote in an easily understandable manner, and well, he founded an era of religious wars. Perhaps it is a good thing that German philosophers have been high-brow. The 20th century might have been even uglier.
Is von Moltke present in spirit? If he is, does it mean that this song will usher the repetition of the events of 1870?
The real question is whether it will have that ABBA-styled Wall of Sound.
