- Sandra: My butt!
- Zoey: Please, Sandra, don’t be so full of yourself.
- Sandra: Hey, they always say it’s important for teenage girls to have a “positive body image”!
- Zoey: Within reason, Sandra, within reason!
- Sandra: Are you trying to suggest that my butt is not heavenly?!
- Sandra: Are you really trying to suggest that, Zoey?!?
- Zoey: No– I…
- Sandra: Then say it, Zoey, say it!
- Zoey: Your butt is, beyond any doubt, totally heavenly!

Those critics clearly were NEW readers who didn’t know the comic at all and by likely only red a couple of strips.
Trolling the PC crowd is always fun. Sometimes it even helps create noise.

I like this latest comic too, but I don’t see it as a rebuttal to those who complained about the previous one. Novil tends to be much more direct and blunt in his response to that sort of thing. Like when people were complaining about all the bikinis in the Sandra vs. Zoey arc a few years back, so he did a one-off, fourth-wall breaking strip in which the characters agreed to capitulate to the complainers and wear burqas for the rest of the arc. Today’s strip, though? It doesn’t have anything to do with preteen sexuality (Sandra and Zoey both being teenagers, after all.) What it *does* make a call-back to is the recent comic in which Zoey reduced Sandra and Larisa to begging on their knees for her to join their band, while Zoey diid the same “oujo laugh” we see here. Today’s strip, then, is where Sandra gets her revenge. 🙂
Zoey giving in is a bit out of the blue. Why does she suddenly agree? Because of “body positivity”? Because of her preferences? It’s a bit abrupt.
Oh? This gonna piss off some snowflakes. This strip is Novil giving the middle finger to all his puritan critics and I’m loving it.
Sandra gets her revenge. And she uses Zoey’s orientation to do so!
LOL! That is so funny. Sadly we don’t get to see the look on Cloud’s face as he tries to avoid the topic.
Maybe Cloud will be in the next strip.

No, don’t fall into bitchevil, Sandra! It shows a lack of confidence. Is this ‘strip just accidentally drawn with the two characters swapped, no one wanted to redo anything, and ended up like this? That Kodatchi Laugh would seem more natural for Zoey.
Of course, if it was part of a story arc that ended up showing Sandra’s butt then this would just be the fastest way to motivate Zoey’s actions.

I’m a bit unclear about that myself. Is her butt really that heavenly, and the artwork just isn’t divinely inspired enough to show it? Or is he poking fun at identity politics in the US, (And elsewhere?) the way that if somebody identifies as something, it’s considered a monstrous offense to contradict them, and everybody on the left is terrified to draw a line?
I suppose the next strip might clarify that.
Either way, I’m not sure how Sandra’s butt gets worked into the lyrics.
Next ep: Cloud thrown clear across the room by explosive nosebleed.

@ Morbidmort: sandra doesn´t know so she isn´t bullying zoey – at least not intentionally – but merely teasing her. and lets not forget that zoey is hardly a blushing+stammering wallflower but the queen of sarcasm….who more often than not gets the last word in when verbally sparring with sandra
