This is one of those scenes that would be *really* funny if there was ever an animated adaption of Gaia 😛
Yeah, the portal is genius, but can they make new cubes themselves? It sounds more like the cubes are genius. Also, they’re leaving a portal on for 10 minutes, and expect that it won’t run out of power. So it’s bad fuel management, on top of that.

It’s fully possible the portal doesn’t consume lot of energy unless actually transporting stuff. Also, building the portal likely took several minutes.
I really like how the inside of the marble looks like. Dark, but somehow lit from the inside… magic !
It would have looked very different without any source of light, more creepy. I like the way it looks here.
