I’ve always thought this page was extremely funny (perhaps unintentionally). Vivi straight up HURLS this sphere into the sky and then just immediately transitions into shouting at Lili and Ilias to hassle them about a VISION she had 😛
I think it’s funny because of what’s done to -get- such a sphere later. “Oh, I’ll just deliver some promotional photos to the press like some sort of pop idol. No big deal.” becomes “OMGaia, we’re all going to die unless we manage to get our hands on this superexpensive thing like right now. We could have really used one of these!”
Interesting user interface on that sphere – the nine “tic-tac-toe”-like touch sensitive areas might be a numerical keypad, but no numbers are shown… No obvious display either… Looks kinda complicated 🙂
Do they enter destination codes compareable to phone numbers? Coordinates? Does Vivi know them by heart? Oh so many questions :))

Note that the one they needed was more expensive because it has bigger capacity and generally was some advanced model. This one wouldn’t suffice even if they had it.
