My comment for this page from Gaia: sic mundus creatus est:That’s the old oak in the village center that gave Oakdale its name. Otherwise, there aren’t many oaks in or around Oakdale. There also aren’t any substantial hills around Oakdale. Eldor is apparently not particularly good in naming things. He didn’t even give his impressive tower a proper name.

“Did King Olrik pardon you?”
“Haha, no, I broke out of prison—but you’re still happy to see me despite my outlaw status, right? Riiiiiiiight?????”

Wait… did Eldor found the town? … When?
@ Carefulrogue:
That was never properly explained. As well, there is little to no timeline of the many things that Eldor did to complete his research. You’d think he’d keep his guinea pigs closer to the G tree, unless the oak tree had something to do with it. And for that matter if the Great tree was so great then Eldor would have loved the results from the people who had successive generations living in the capitol city, not nowheresvile Oakdale.

Presumably he kept his test subjects in this small little out of the way town so it wouldn’t make the news if one of them disappeared, went mad and lit themselves on fire, etc.
