“You really shouldn’t peek through other people’s windows.” Lilith could have replied “But I didn’t look at the window” without lying: she saw it through the wall!
Silas is Eldor’s spy: it makes total sense that he would be friendly with Lilith’s parents. They can chat and see each other regularly, which is exactly what is needed to get frequent updates. Did Eldor create a whole cult just to get a big bunch of spies and scapegoats? Probably.
Silas made a mistake by annoying Lilith, because that made her suspicious. He’s a spy, but not a very good one.
Whe know now that the whole village is a simulation and the characters are magical avatars of the dreaming people. Our heroes are the only one “physically” here. Is Silas also physically present? If not, what is the point of the portal stuff? Is he aware of the whole simulation stuff?
He’s physically present, hence the portal. The illusions cannot leave Oakdale.
I don’t think he was ever made aware that the town and its people are an illusion, but he knows some things and could probably gather more from the information he has.
As for the cult, it’s real. If you remember the ending, Eldor’s motivations are fundamentally a challenge to the established world religion. He’s very much a bona fide cult leader.

The cult might be real but Eldor doesn’t really care about it. He sacrificed them without second though, they were just tools to him.

It’s too easy to overlook this page later. Everything Mrs Calean says is relevant to Silas’s actions during “the visit.”
SPOILER AHEAD
