Well, also, her army is the biggest one inside the labyrinth. Sure, it’s just few people, but until someone gets bigger army here she’s queen by the law of the strongest.
So why didn’t she just cut through the latch and threw open the door? Saves having to step-or-stumble through the wreckage. (And ignoring for the moment that doors like that are a tad thick to just kick through.)
I can’t say for sure, but they just graduated from what amounts to “Adventure College.” Chances are how to make a sudden entrance through a door and deal with a variety of door mechanisms was included content.
Likewise, while he’s not first-and-foremost a wizard, I get the impression he has to be at least competent in order to graduate. Whose to say that he didn’t use Gaia’s equivalent of a spell of giant strength or some other way of magnifying his performance. Case in point, that looks like a pretty solid door made of thick solid wood. He’d have to be *amazingly* strong to put an axe through the door on the first hit; never mind being able to kick through the rest of the door.
From a more strategic perspective, that initial axe hit looks like it is in the general vicinity of the locking mechanism. Given he’s generally been a pretty thoughtful person, I’d say it seems likely he’d have chosen the location of the hit with similar care. Perhaps he picked a spot that would break the lock as well as weaken the rest of the door?: Hard to say, really, but he’s thoughtful, capable, and demonstrating a lot more muscular power than I’d have thought possible for him. So I strongly suspect magic and/or other capabilities are involved with that grand entrance.
Silas is lucky they only wrecked a door and didn’t take out the wall.
So he’s got like 3 clocks, in the same room? They were known for ticking.
He’s a clock-maker, after all.
Being a watchmaker is a good excuse, but as a spy who’s keeping track of people, it probably helps to be able to have eyes on a clock from anywhere in your house.
That top right panel is GLORIOUS 😀

“I declare myself the queen! I’m too important to turn doorknobs! Ax Boy!”
