My comment for this page from Gaia: sic mundus creatus est:Lilith’s subtle glance at Eldor in the sixth panel turned out absolutely perfect. I guess many readers assumed that she’s planning something, but not that she’s actually doing something, especially not something with such monumental consequences. Eldor’s notes are taken almost straight from mathematicians Shinichi Mochizuki’s long paper about Inter-universal Teichmülller Theory in which he allegedly proved the famous abc conjecture. It’s such a bizarre and complicated paper that many math professors didn’t understand it at all, not even the abstract. You can say that it’s a theory in the middle ground between math and magic, just like Eldor’s calculations on this page.

Mood whiplash? Noooo, just the natural end to a fistfight, here- reading and math! 😛
If I recall correctly this ultimately turned out to be a very important moment.
Interesting thought. Did Lilian spontaneously take advantage of the moment, or were her magical and physical attacks over the last few pages deliberately designed to get Eldor into a state of mind where something like this would be possible? She can’t have known in advance he would start doing calculations in front of her unless he’s made a habit of it before, but we’ve not been shown that.
“Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from mathematics.”
