Just going to say that I love the artwork on the magic. It really conveys the intensity and vibrant nature of the action.
Also, I love the choice of words for the sound effects. I’ve seen lots of comics go “BOOM!”, but for some reason “VWOOM” just tickles my brain so much better. This applies to the previous pages, too. Especially that “Ting!” I didn’t have the time to comment on it, but it just sort of struck me that it’s kind of reminiscent of Lili’s comment way back at the start. “There’s a lot more you can do with the blue stuff than just casting some old fireballs.” It leads me to the thought that “Everyone can do a fireball or make something go ‘Boom!” when when an archmage in combat goes “TING!” then things are getting *really* high energy…” From a musical viewpoint, the looser (and lower tension) the string, the lower the note. The tighter the string, the higher the pitch. So that “ting” makes me think of reality getting pulled to a super high tension state and then being plucked…
While the pacing for these fights is great, I must admit that sometimes I wish we could get some extra side-imagery that isn’t actually part of the comic but just expands on the fight a bit.
Time to break out the fancy shield barrier.
