This, to me, looks like a calculated image. She’s establishing a break with with her predecessors. Everyone around her is dressed in finery, and she’s dressed in no-nonsense garb built for action. *Her* kind of action, which is agile, precise, and calculated. The avaril and the sword (rainbow dagger?) very prominent on her hip, too. This is a Queen of the people, someone who has lived in the gutters and rough conditions, and while comfortable as a leader, she isn’t ashamed of her roots or her capabilities; nor of dressing appropriately for the work she needs to do. There is a time for pomp and finery, and right now isn’t it.
At least, that’s how I’m interpreting it. Although it could just be intended to give a casual look. It doesn’t quite match stuff she’s worn for thievery operations. Although to an extent, those have generally always display a strong dose of pragmatism, as in, she wears whatever is needed to get her in to do the job. She doesn’t seem to have a “Given a choice always wear this particular set of clothing.” preference.
My guess, with the blue-green energy that her foot is coming out of, is that she isn’t actually there at all. I suspect her image is being re-projected from the imminent operation at the stronghold. Depending on how sneaky they are being, maybe with just enough of a delay that Eldor, if he watches and sees something going on he wants to interrupt, will arrive post-action when they are ready and waiting for interference.
It’s a pity that the old posting pages are gone. The commentators could come up with really good lines sometimes. I think one of my favourites will always be:
“What in Bhaal’s name is she wearing?”
“Crocs, San. She’s wearing crocs.”
With that resume, she doesn’t need to dress to impress.

Quite the contrary. The “dress” is meant to provide very specific impression. Just not the impression San would expect.
From the blue swirl around her ankle and the rest of the foot missing, I suppose the illustration is meant to convey that she portaled into the venue?
Dress for the job you want…
All these years, it have bugged me that Vivana is destined to be the queen of a peaceful kingdom, but in her heart, she really is a fighter.

“What in Bhaal’s name is she wearing?”
“This is my ass kicking outfit, bitch”
> precise, calculated
> rainbow dagger
😀
Funny take: she simply forgot to change.
@ Skeezick:
And it doesn’t bruise her toes.
