I love Eldor’s expression in the third panel. A look of underwhelmed optimism, I’d say.
The moment Eldor is confused why his grand scheme is reduced to pressing a button does not produce more noise. And Lilli interrupting him about some number funny enough a lot of people associate with bad luck.
Something did happen, though. Notice the ‘oily water’ effect plastered all over the background starting from the 4th panel onward.

Novil’s comment gives a definitive information. I guess somehow Lili’s soul has remained in touch with Lili’s body, if it was fully extracted and stored in the orb. Now Lili’s soul is merged with the Tear of Gaia, so Eldor can now be overpowered. In other words, Eldor defeated himself making “his” tool his enemy. That’s the reason he expected Lili’s death, more a desire (or convenience) than a fact. One more of his errors, this one the worst of all.
“Where’s the ka-boom? There was supposed to be a Gaia-shattering ka-boom!”
