My comment for this page from Gaia: sic mundus creatus est:The concept of celibacy is completely unknown on Gaia. Gregory of Askaroth and Ariella of Cheysh will probably become the new joint rulers of Cania. This could become problematic since they’re popular only in the northern parts of the country.

I can’t quite put it into words, but always felt like Ilias and Vivi was kind of rushed into. Their relationship doesn’t make sense.
@ BW:
I can kind of understand that, even if I felt a little different about it. It started with a little crush/attraction from Vivi towards Ilias, while Ilias was still pining for Lilith, so I understand where it could seem somewhat rushed, but at the same time you make a LOT of romantic ground in a small amount of time during times of crisis and stress. People will form relationships forged during wartime that would seem rash and rushed to those of us living in times of relative peace. I, for one, confess that I would have been interested to see an IliasxLilith pairing, but that would have only made sense if the story had headed in a different direction…
I hope the happy couple can pay for their grain deliveries. If not, Viviana at least has someone who can be on the team to steal another kingdom’s treasury.
No I’ll, I assume when you refer to “celibacy” I assume you mean “celibacy among the clergy”.
To be honest that has never made any sense to me at all.
@ BW:
Well the commentary for page 009 pointed out the whole story lasted only 4 months. Maybe this epilogue is beyond that, by a month say (time for Vivianna to be healed, tree starts growing again, but it looks like government is still being started, so not much more time). Still a very short time to go from “first met” to “married”.
But it’s fine, the point is to get a happy ending and it looks lovely.

In the early period of the Catholic church the priesthood was becoming a hereditary position. The church leaders didn’t want that so created the celibacy rule. Priests could still have illegitimate children but it solved the hereditary problem since the priests had no legitimate heirs.

So instead you had families going all-in on raising boys for the church, as in the Medicis and Borgias. No worries, what could possibly go wrong!
@ Chris:
I think that makes sense, but I also think my confusion comes from never actually seeing Vivi having crush type behavior around Ilias. When they first meet, she’s all business and never seems to soften up until suddenly they’re both in love.
Then again, I know nothing about these sorts of things.
@ BW:
There’s plenty of examples actually. Vivi blushes looking at Ilias, looks worried when he takes a walk with Lili and when he thinks about staying with her in Oakdale as her guard, almost letting it slip that she wants him as her future consort, sleeping in his bed when she has nightmares. A bunch of these are before Lili tells Ilias what’s up.

I know this was supposed to be rhetorical AND sarcastic question, but … *points at the amount of sexual abuse scandals of catholic priests*.
