A Sky Full of Stars 056

  • Tibor: … Goddamn!
  • Scarlet: Can’t we give Julius some of our supplies?
  • Tibor: We don’t even have enough just for you. And we don’t have anything left to sell either.
  • Scarlet: Is there nothing we can do to help Julius?
  • Tibor: I can’t think of anything at the moment.
  • Scarlet: Why are Julius’ parents so obstinate?!
  • Tibor: Most humans are. And wolves are even worse.
  • Tibor: First of all, we have to make sure that we survive ourselves.
  • Scarlet: Yes, we have to plan everything carefully.
  • Tibor: If you do that, nothing can go wrong!
  • Scarlet: Let’s hope so…

  1. They must be saving the flaming meteors for the next page.
While some people are just too dumb to help, the real problem is they keep dragging down normal people with them. Accepting it is another form of giving up. How does Tibor think that Scarlet can solve anything?

  2. Why I have a sneaking suspicion that Julius did not survive?…

    1. I’m worried about Julius surviving, but also Tibor. I can easily see him sacrificing himself to save Scarlet, he even says here they don’t have enough supplies for her, not mentioning himself. Plus the cover page shows her alone… Very worrying.

  3. …You absolute idiot. You never, ever say “nothing can go wrong”!!! Are you TRYING to provoke Murphy’s Law?! Same applies to related phrases like “at least it can’t get any worse” and “what’s the worst that can happen?”.

  4. Wait, is he a wolf, not a fox?

    1. … because the comic is cleary “Scarlet and Tibor” and not “Scarlet, Julius and Tibor”?
Another thing that could happen is that their Julius and their parents move away (to where?) because they don’t have any other choice. That would explain why Scarlet does not stay for the whole story with Julius. But yes, that sound really bad.

“We have to plan everything carefully”.
Scarlet is definitely Viviana with red hair 🙂

      1. Oops, I thouht I was replying to Dilandu : “Why I have a sneaking suspicion that Julius did not survive?…”

        1. Don’t worry, I get it)

    2. He is a fox.

    3. He’s a fox, and he’s commenting on how the other two sentient races are reacting to global cooling.

  5. What’s Julius saying about all that?
I could imagine that he would have at least some way to buy something or he would have some leverage to his parents.

    1. Don’t you remember being twelve years old? His parents will listen to him to some extent, but not on serious issues like this. That’s just the way it goes, people don’t take kids seriously much of the time. (To be fair, kids are often wrong, but still…)

  6. “What could possibly go wrong?”
    Never a more ominous phrase

  7. Don’t they still have the statue that Scarlet tried to bride the official with? That can be sold or traded for food.

    1. I suspect that’s where the money came for to ensure that at least Scarlet has some cushion against coming famine. Even then, it’s not enough for a twelve(?) year old girl to survive, let alone both of them.

  8. I do wonder how many more people have made the same conclusion as Tibor. If he’s right, he should not be one of few figuring this out unless there’s a reason for it. Let’s see what happens.

  9. It’s so cold, even the camera man is shaking. Didn’t expect this to be a problem in a webcomic.
