  1. Ok… that gun has a mode selector. Right is beam. Top is shield? Bottom is… Stun?

    1. I presume the bottom-most setting is safe? So Safe, Shield?, and Hand Cannon.

    2. Top looks like a continuous beam, that is cutting a surface.
Similar pictograms exist for laser cutting.

      1. so a fine cutting beam, standard and I am guessing a spread out/wide area blast?

based on the positions of the icons, I ama assuming there is a 4th we have not seen yet as well.

        1. The lower one could also simply be a circle/zero for off/save.
And there is this double lined Path between the symbols/knob positions.
          We will see.

        2. My read based on the lines is that it’s a safety feature. Down to prime the gun, right for single blast Down right up to engage a continuous cutter

  2. That’s not a pistol. That’s a hand-cannon.

I’ll admit I’m not completely certain what’s happening in panel five. The tree fell between them yet somehow injured the back of the wolf’s head?

    1. Nevermind, I see now. The shot glanced his ear in panel three.

    2. The wolf was hit in the right ear by the beam before it hit the tree, then the tree broke and fell between them.

Hellsing Ultimate Abridged is proven correct once again /wink

  3. Okay, set the blaster to shoot death rays instead of kisses or whatever else there is. Works well on ears and trees at least.

  4. >PEWN’T
    >PEW
    >ANTIPEW

    1. s/PEW/ZUMMM/

  5. “You’re not going to shoot anyone with the safety on, Kid”
    “Oh, right, thanks” *click*

  6. So is it time to give robber a name or did the tree kill him?

    1. I vote to name him “Vincent”. Maybe he should take up painting. 🙂

      1. Vincent Van…. hopefully, Vincent Van … go

    2. Characters are typically only tagged with their name if the name is mentioned in the comic.

The tree didn’t hit the robber. He managed to jump out of the way.

  7. Guess that robber is ear today, gone tomorrow.

  8. Scarlet needs to work on her aim.

    1. It appears that the unexpected recoil knocked Scarlet back. I’m sure she’d have hit the guy otherwise, because her shooting skills have been established already.

    2. Dude, you try being on target with something you’ve never sighted in. and no idea of the recoil.

  9. Technically, Scarlet shot first twice. 🙂 The gun is hundreds of years old, you say? I think Scarlet’s found something as dangerous as she wants it to be. After they kill One Ear, it’s on to the Grondor Front.

  10. Safety. Called it.

  11. BlackDragonSlayer

I like the multiple clicks in the first panel 😛

  12. I’d recommend a strategic retreat for the underarmed robber „Vincent“.
And never underestimate potentially deadly weapons even if they only go „click“ at first.

  13. “Whoa!”, “Hch!”
That dialogue won’t win a literary award!

  14. Lol! Now she’s in bigger trouble! =^^=

I know it is not the case, but I can see the switch in back actin like one of those locks that use a four way slider instead of numbers to unlock. Like a cheat code in the old videogame days! Up Down Left Left Right BOOM! =P

    1. I doubt it’s a safety; a safety should not take any more time to operate than absolutely necessary, lest the operator get shot while trying to remember the correct sequence to unlock it. It is probably a mode selector. It could also function as a safety, with the center position “safe,” but I would want something separate for the actual safety, to prevent accidental discharges.

  15. Killy approves of this new firearm.
