Although Scarlet is a genius, I think she was lying when she said she didn’t know the rules of the game. Really, with her obsession with reading and learning, and with developing original ideas in mathematics, I think she read books about the game a long time ago, learned to play, and gained some experience in the game.
Also, Cyril, under the impression of defeat, may be exaggerating when he says „mopped the floor with me“.

Also, I think on the previous page, panel 2, there’s a missing blue square on the folded board. We only see a small part of it, but it’s brown instead of blue. Sorry, I just love when an artist really pays attention to details, and can’t help but look for tiny mistakes when that’s the case XD

… is this some silly lead-up to Scarlet getting to see the border, then maybe an attack happens where command gets inoperational, and she takes over and scores a ‘win’? Like Luke Skywalker having to mention “I’m not such a bad pilot!” to give a valid-within-movie-context explanation why a simple farm-boy is able to fly an attack on the Death Star together with trained pilots.
