  1. Is the hand-holding in panel 5 a sign that Scarlet’s powers of persuasion are as powerful as she claimed?

  2. Vreni’s mother doesn’t want Scarlet to have a gun, and Scarlet’s response is “I have bad news for her.”? Not, “I won’t tell her if you won’t, or Let’s keep her from finding out”, but “Yes, so you’ll have to get over it.” 🙂
Ah, a leaflet campaign. At least she’s not using air-drop methods. Those are always wasting many with littering. So Scarlet knows how many houses there are in Kirkiok, which means there’s still some civil organization like census going on. She probably needs a map too. I still don’t know her goal, but she’s sure putting the work in.
At least Scarlet wasn’t doing anything really crazy, like printing books. Has Novil recovered from the Gaia/Sandra and Woo printing yet?
Scarlet will probably get the leaflet delivery done uneventfully, without meeting any “the people who come out at night.”
Vreni and Baako? Vreni has advanced to hand-holding! Yay.

    1. Why did you have to bring up the book printing disaster? Poor Oliver! 😅
And I love the little hand holding. Cute. Like any good boyfriend should be!

      1. The S&W / GAIA books came out gorgeous, though <3

  3. Hang on, why is she bringing her gun along? Just to prove a point to Vreni? For self-defense? All she’s doing is distributing leaflets, what dangers does she expect to face?

Well, whatever the reason, she’s guaranteed to need that gun at some point, if Mr. Chekhov’s principle is to be believed.

    1. She planned to bring her gun before the comment. The box and belt are in panel 1 and she is already grabbing the belt there too. As for why I’m not sure. She is expecting trouble but carrying the gun may attract even more since Vrenis mother probably isn’t alone in not wanting Scarlet to have one. I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends with someone trying to get it away from her.

  4. We discussed earlier how big the cities on Lavarel are. I said that I don’t think Kirkiok is a small city by Lavarel standards, although it is small by our standards.
Namely, I think that the population density is low and that the cities are small by our standards. That maybe only two cities, Callisto and Capela (“twin cities”) have more than 100,000 inhabitants.
I have experience with leaflets, I have often distributed them. The leaflets are small, about A5 format (panel 6). There can be 500 of them in one package. We see 20 packages (panel 1), so let’s say 10,000 households in Kirkiok. Let’s say that means 30 to 40,000 inhabitants. Maybe a little less – she probably printed a little more, for backup.

  5. The gun screams “trouble”.

  6. So she’s WITH the wolf now?

  7. I STILL don’t understand what Scarlet wants to achieve. That people ‘believe’ her? So what? Won’t change anything. Or is she looking for comrades? What for? I guess with that money, she could have _hired_ some support. Why doesn’t she follow the OBVIOUS clues,, like that book author who provided such a sophisiticated picture of the machine she saw?

    1. She is following the clues on Abel (the author), as stated in MG-22, but seems to have hit a wall (“Abel’s daughter lied when she wrote …”), so as the very determined person she is, is also trying other methods to move forward.
But I am also not sure what she is trying to achieve with the leaflets.

    2. She might need
      a) information (history, geography, technology, sociology, …)
      b) a group of adventurers, in due course…

    3. Yeah, it looks like all the answers to what Scarlet’s up to will be when someone reads a pamphlet on-panel. Probably next page or the one after that.
