On this page, you can find short definitions for all terms used in the comic.

Countries

  • Arcadia – The lost Arcadian Empire dominated the second age together with its arch enemy Ilium.
  • Avernum – An important country to the south of Kirelia. Its capital city is Capella, one of the Twin Cities, in the easternmost part of the country.
  • Coldramar – A large mountainous country in the southern hemisphere of Lavarel.
  • Grondar – A country to the west of Kirelia.
  • Ilium – The lost Ilian Republic dominated the second age together with its arch enemy Arcadia.
  • Kirelia – Scarlet’s home country in the northern hemisphere of Lavarel, close to the North Pole.
  • Lavarel – The name of the planet.
  • Olandur – An important country to the south-east of Kirelia. Its capital city is Callisto, one of the Twin Cities, in the westernmost part of the country.
  • Radesso – A country to the east of Kirelia.
  • TakkelauA country in the southern hemisphere of Lavarel, close to the South Pole.
  • UltrielA country in the southern hemisphere of Lavarel, close to the South Pole.

Regions

  • Aurora PlainsPlateau in the northeast of Kirelia, one of the main battlegrounds in the war between Arcadia and Ilium.
  • Crystal Flower Hills – Mountainous region in the northeast of Kirelia, one of the main battlegrounds in the war between Arcadia and Ilium.
  • Hollow Highlands – Remote mountainous region in Avernum.
  • Valley of the GuardiansA valley in the mountains of Coldramar where a gate carved into the rock is guarded by indomitable golems.

Cities and villages

  • Arados – The capital city of Radesso.
  • Callisto – Together with Capella one of the Twin Cities, the political and cultural center of Lavarel. Callisto is the capital city of Olandur. According to its inhabitants, Callisto is the oldest, biggest and most beautiful city on all of Lavarel.
  • Capella – Together with Callisto one of the Twin Cities, the political and cultural center of Lavarel. Capella is the capital city of Avernum. According to its inhabitants, Capella is the oldest, biggest and most beautiful city on all of Lavarel.
  • Karsth [The Machine of Eternal Summer 005] – A city in the west of Kirelia, close to Milik.
  • Kirkiok [A Sky Full of Stars 001] – A city in the west of Kirelia.
  • Milik [The Machine of Eternal Summer 002] – Scarlet’s home town in the west of Kirelia.
  • Oris [A Sky Full of Stars 043] – The capital city of Kirelia, located in the center of country. Houses one of the Source Crystals.
  • Samaris [A Sky Full of Stars 010] – A city in the south of Kirelia, not far from the capital city Oris.
  • Tatsos [The Machine of Eternal Summer 012] – Tibor’s home city in the east of Kirelia, not far from the capital city Oris.
  • Velis [A Sky Full of Stars 064] – A city in the northeast of Kirelia, close to a large mining area.

Places of interest

  • Amber Monolith [A Sky Full of Stars 039] – A gigantic abandoned cubical building in Coldramar from the time of the Arcadian Empire, which is still partially unexplored due to the many dangers adventurers face in it.
  • Cube of Kirkiok [A Sky Full of Stars 004] – A white cube on display on the market square of Kirkiok with flashing colored lights on its surface. Its creator and purpose are unknown.
  • Master Crystal – The Master Crystal is a giant crystal that controls the creation of the Shards, the money used on Lavarel, by the Source Crystals. It’s located on the central square between Capella and Callisto, the Twin Cities.
  • National Museum of Kirelia [A Sky Full of Stars 044] – The National Museum of Kirelia, located right next to the Royal Palace, is the largest and most renowned museum on Lavarel apart from those found in Capella and Callisto.
  • Royal Palace of Kirelia [A Sky Full of Stars 043] – The Royal Palace in the center of Oris is home to the royal chambers, the parliament and the Source Crystal.
  • Serrated Tower [A Sky Full of Stars 043] – An almost one kilometer high tower with a jagged façade that’s overlooking the central plain of Kirelia to the east of Oris. Its original creator is unknown. It was used as watchtower by both Arcadia and Ilium during their reign over the region.
  • Source Crystal [A Sky Full of Stars 043] – The eight Source Crystals create the Shards, the money used on Lavarel. Capella, Callisto and Oris are among the eight capital cities that house a Source Crystal. The Source Crystals are controlled by the Master Crystal.
  • The Spire [A Sky Full of Stars 036] – A huge obelisk in Olandur which is considered to be the oldest still standing structure on Lavarel.

Other things

  • Arcadian rainbow disk [The Machine of Eternal Summer 004] – Ornamental disk made out of colored crystals, mainly produced at the time of the Arcadian Empire.
  • Capella Star [A Sky Full of Stars 019] – Weekly paper produced in Capella and sold worldwide.
  • Energy Crystal [A Sky Full of Stars 011] – Ubiquitous energy source. Different energy crystals have different properties that make them suitable for different use cases.
  • Mechanical carriage [A Sky Full of Stars 044] – Cars and trucks propelled by energy crystals. Only used sporadically, mainly by the military.
  • Shards [The Machine of Eternal Summer 005] – The money used on Lavarel. Shards are small crystals that can be broken up and merged together again. Eight Shards make up a coin.

Calendar

  • A week on Lavarel consists of 6 days.
  • A month consists of 5 weeks (= 30 days).
  • A year consists of 12 months (= 360 days).

The week days have the following names:

1st Firstday The first day of the week.
2nd Twinday This day is named after the Twin Cities, Capella and Callisto.
3rd Starday This day is named for Lavarel’s colorful night sky.
4th Crystalday This day is named for the magic crystals found all over Lavarel.
5th Marketday A market is held on this day in the center of every large settlement.
6th Freeday People often don’t have to work on this day.

 

The months have the following names:

4th Greenbring April Named for the budding trees
5th Lifespring May Named for the newborn kits

Seven month names were taken over from my previous fantasy comic Gaia since they were such a good fit. Those are marked blue.
