The current story arc started with this strip: Two Pieces of Cake.
The title of today’s strip is a spoof of the newspaper comic strip Love is…. It is disgustingly sweet and I can’t imagine the havoc that would ensue if Larisa would somehow manage to take it over. 😉
Yay, two strips in one! That’s not something one manages to do often, so it’s one of my favorite Sandra and Woo strips so far.
I think the message of the “Woo part” of this strip is clear:
- Never start a land war in Russia Afghanistan Russia or Afghanistan.
- Never start a fight with a raccoon.
Usually raccoons are not aggressive; they are rather uncommonly relaxed for wild carnivores. There are several videos on YouTube like this one of drunks who are poking a raccoon with a stick or doing similar stupid stuff and the raccoon is just looking at them funny and then walking away. But when they fight, they fight. They are not only known for their vicious bites, but also for their exceptional pain resistance. For example a pet raccoon was apparently not bothered at all by these wounds and blisters on his super-sensitive paws. So don’t forget to tell your cats and dogs: Starting a fight with a raccoon = very bad idea. 😉
PeTA probably doesn’t approve of this strip. 😀
- Cloud: So these earrings are your “most precious thing”, eh? But what about boys named after rpg heroes? Do they come a close second?
- Sandra: ’Course not, silly. Mean Larisa kissers take eighth place at best.
- Cloud: Hmm, any suggestions how they could improve their rank?
- Sandra: Rumor has it that they’re able to climb several places by giving Sandra an apology kiss.
- Cloud: I see. But is that worth yet another cootie infection? They’d certainly prefer to bring you ten ogre heads or something…
- Sandra: CLOUD!

I’ve actually not played the pen and paper D&D. I play a computer version though. One of my friends played it with me and said my fighter was epic at lvl 40.

I played pen&paper D&D once, like 20(?) years ago. It was an introductory game at a local hobby shop. Played with a bunch of grade-school kids and a dungeon master who apparently just wanted to kill me off for some reason. Not fun that way. None of my friends were interested so I never got into it any further.
I just read this whole 129 comics today (found on Calamities of Nature) and its rather awesome 😀 Even if I dont know much Final Fantasy.. means nothing!!

In fact: There is no ‘good’ D&D game because it’s quite impossible to import all rules into a videogame.
(I’m still waiting for one that does…)

Well… NWN isn't much better. It also lacks a good roundsystem.
(But it's kind of realtime so it's not that unnerving)
"The Temple of Elemental Evil" is great!!! Just as it should be! srsly!
But you can only reach 10th level… and it has some bugs though…
If you want to play a D&D PC-game. Start with "ToEE" ! I mean it ^^

Wow, Woo did a really good job making those rat pelts into a coat. I don’t know about sewer rats, but fancy rats are surprisingly soft.
Wait…Larissa is down there all alone…and Sandra has the flashlight. Ruh-roh!
Cool, after grinding a while, Woo found some equipment.
I really appreciate how the authors here make their characters win big time whenever they face up to a challenge. Having comic book icons lose, get beaten up, or otherwise fail at life all the time is way too cliched to stomach again.
Strips like this, and Compromise are just awesome. So many levels of funny!
My dog (a small one) started a fight with a raccoon once. The sounds were horrible, and when my dad brought Leo back he was coverred in blood. But he didn’t have any wounds… So then we were all worried about the fate of the raccoon.
I love the rat fur coats, they were a nice touch.

I don’t know about NWN, but Dragon Age (same people) is epic. Off-topic, sorry. If you want a fairly good D&D video game, try DDO
And yes, if you don’t know how to play D&D, you will miss MANY of the jokes made here. But you will miss more if you’ve never played Final Fantasy ;P

I can’t imagine Larisa seeing that and not starting to realize what Woo’s secret is.
I’ve heard the same thing about snow leopards, that they’re surprisingly nonagressive even with another individual that intrudes on their territory.

Woo is the real RPG hero here, he slaughtered whole dere of rabit rats alone and also made armour/cloth/enquipment out of them, he is an awesome character (cloud will need to slay 100 orges to be that awesome)
