Woo’s cameo in My Cage

Woo had a small cameo today (Sunday, 18 July 2010) in the newspaper comic strip My Cage by Ed Power (his My Cage blog) and Melissa DeJesus:

Who can name all of the characters standing in line!
Not me, I only recognize 2.
I know five of them:
1. Zorphbert from Zorphbert and Fred
2. Coney from Kevin and Kell
3. Clango from Diesel Sweeties
4. Woo from Sandra and Woo
5. Agatha Heterodyne from Girlgenius
A couple of the others:
– The blue character at the extreme left is Skull the Troll from PvP (Player vs. Player).
– The ninja in the doctor’s coat (fourth from left) is, of course, Dr. McNinja.
Besides Woo, I also recognize Dr. McNinja and Teenage Girl President from Medium Large.
Awesome! That’s pretty cool that Woo got some mainstream action.
The one saying “I love comics” is Gill, from a discontinued strip by Norm Feuti, of Retail fame.
What!? Sluggy Freelance got no love?
In addition to Woo and Dr. McNinja, I see Pinkerton Park’s Steve (the dimmunitive guy sporting the head gear next to McNinja). Odd there’s no mention over on the Pinkerton site…
There’s also the main character from Girl Genius (I don’t read it, so I have no idea what her name is).
It’s really bizarre to see a newspaper comic (dying medium) to call sideways to the webcomic (new medium) and yet.. there’s so many that only collectively can a random assortment of webcomic readers name the whole line of cameos! Not only that, most people will only see a line of random silly doodles and not recognize it as a bunch of cameos. It’s a big risk for a weak joke, in my opinion, but interesting as a novelty.
Is this the first time you’ve been in the funnies, S&W team?
Kudos on Woo being cameo-ed! And the artists do a decent job of rendering all those characters…
I have to ask- Why Coney? Why not Kell WITH Coney? Or Kevin, for that matter?
Still Woo looked so adorable in this comic.
Does anyone know who the rocket piggy is??
