Haha! What a clever way to make a point! The wildlife sure is weird around this neighborhood…
Those are some inferential skills for a guy who apparently watches Jersey Shore.
I suppose nothing serves as a motivator as dead rabbit chunks on your favorite footres–coffee table.
they could have droped the garbage into the sea…. the fish are not going to walk into your house…
Jokes aside, Why would anyone drop the garbage in the woods? It makes no sense, if you are already paying taxes someone is going to pick up your trash for you.
Y No Color
people like them make me want to become a murderer…of environment destroying ****heads (that includes government jack***es)
Okay, that’s clever, reminds me of Police Agent 212 comic, where he non chalantly put all the garbages in someone’s car who love to dump stuff in the forest.
why black and white???????
lol, you sump trash in our home, we’ll dump trash in yours.
Well, better than any fine can do.
After he took out the trash, the man drove out to the city and saw a psychiatrist.
Reminds me of the “Animal Waste Management” Far Side comic, which showed a bear running a sewage pipe from the woods into a guy’s house. 🙂
Missed the black and white! guess I’m the only one, but I like it better in B&W.
I like the black and white too. I might save all old ones before they’re recolored.
lol i don’t think jersey shore is meant for that guy’s demographic
They’re tossing out that chair? I knew a bunch of guys in college who would GLADLY have taken it off their hands.
Yea, dude. Better get things right before the wolves start coming!
…waaaait a second! Did I lose any news post? The comics are B&W again? D:
@ gerardo:
Here in Colorado, Denver is thinking about making people pay directly for garbage pickup.
don’t do to others what you wouldn’t want done to u
@ imachrismoose:
Mmm… Is fine if Its cheap, other things people do is having a very big container evry few blocks, people and restaurants throw there their garbage and that reduces the cost.
I still dont see a reason to litter your garbage in the woods, the only reason is to destroy nature, so you have to be a really asshole jerk
I remember reading a similar strip somewhere else… but this is a lot funnier.
Well, we pay extra for our trash (not included in the taxes), and I would assume that those people live near the woods so it’s not too much of a bother to just dump their trash. Not saying it’s right, i’m just saying.
You could always do the “responsible” thing and take it to an office dumpster…like what happens at my office…
@ Professional Mole:
And if the wolves don’t get the message across, what about bears coming in with their beehive waste, including the angry bees.
…clue in to who actually told them to clean up their mess?
For a second there, I thought the animals were re-enacting stuff from that Jersey Shore show, but then I saw the garbage the people put outside. Yeah…
Too bad the colors didn’t take.
Ah, it’s good to see Shadow and Sid again!
@ gerardo:
That is true, but there are limits to what the garbage men will take. They’re not going to be taking something like a fridge, or a TV, or an armchair.
@ Cherry Pie: I don’t know about where you live, but twice a year we have appliance and large item pick up, plus we have several drop off locations where you can take those items any time, for free. In spite of that there is still illegal dumping because using the system would infringe on their “freedom” to be a total @$$.
They’re lucky he didn’t have his shotgun handy. Okay, Sid has leftover nut shells and Shadow has leftover scraps of shredded bunny, but Woo has… leaves? Hmm. I guess these days a raccoon’s garbage probably looks just like human garbage.
Re: color… yeah, I’d like to see the B&W strips left up in their own archive or “click here to see the original version.” I’ve always been a fan of sketch/monochrome lineart. The color looks good, though!
@ gerardo:
Unfortunately, in a lot of rural communities (like here in Maine) there is no roadside trash collection. You have to haul it to a town collection/transfer station. As a cost saving measure in some towns (to avoid increasing your property taxes), you pay to throw–you’re charged a fee for special garbage bags and those are the only ones accepted at the transfer station. So, the more trash (less recycling) you produce, the more you pay. This, unfortunately, leads to situations like what is seen in this comic–illegal dumping on a back road in the woods, ’cause a lot of people either can’t afford the extra fee or refuse to pay it.
@ gerardo:
My town doesn’t pick up trash
BOY this would make the BEST anti-littering program EVER! XD
BTW am I the only one who finds that rabbit head JUST a bit morbid?(Still cool don’ worry man.) 😀
@ Geradardo
Even if they did have tax-paid trash pick up, garbage men don’t pick up refrigerators and such. Those you have to either haul to the dump and pay a fee or pay the dump (or whomever) to pick it up for you (plus the fee you’d pay anyway).
So, to answer your question: “Why dump trash in the woods?”
Because people.
Oops, misspelled your name: gerardo
Did anyone else notice the mouse/rat head?
Personally, I think the whole message of this strip is a bit too heavy-handed.
i don’t get it.
I think I get part of it, but not the end panel.
I must say, the color really does bring the Maxx rabbit to life… in all it’s gory details.
@ Tendo:
You probably think that any message you get right away is too heavy-handed. 😉
I, personally, found it clever and entertaining. So clearly we’re at a division of /opinion/ here.

I thought of that too! Far Side FTW
Ooh, now the gore is colored. I think that’s my favorite part.
Personally, it reminds me of this one C&H strip…
H: Animals can’t afford condos! How would PEOPLE like it if animals bulldozed houses and planted new TREES!?
*they check the nearby bulldozer*
C: No good, there aren’t any keys…
Was that… was that a dead rabbit? EWWWWWW…..
@ gerardo:
Because out here in the country where all us poor dumb Rednecks ostensibly live… their is no trash pick up service. City boy.
(And yes I am a Redneck and proud of it… so yes I take some offense to your comment.)
Garbage hardly destroys nature (at lest not the tiny bit they would be dumping) in fact all them animals would be going threw the trash and eating the scraps and living in the chair and so on. Every thing decomposes, metal rusts, paper turns to dirt, plastic turns brittle and crumbles. Nature is stronger then people give it credit for.
@ crazyredemu:
Yes, nature is strong, but some chemicals they may be throwing out are dangerous to wild life. The refrigerator especially. That’s why there are special places to get rid of refrigerators and appliances: not because they are big and bulky but because they contain hazardous materials and chemicals.
At least he got the message, that’s a good thing.
New reader here, just finished the whole archive. Keep up the great stuff, you three. *thumbs up*
also this process take time, and so if everybody dump trash, then the nature will not have time to decompose that, not to mention dieases it will cause… all that will go back to haunt those who live nearby…
A great return to form. Keep it up!
@ gerardo:
Maybe if you live in a city that has a sanitation department handling garbage collection, but this guy doesn’t appear to live in such a place and would likely have to pay a company that handles garbage collection to do it, why bother if you can drop it in a patch of forest no one ever goes in?
