[0339] Little Red Riding Pony
└ posted on Thursday, 5 January 2012, by Novil
A series of pony strips was inevitable sooner or later. I watched my first episode “Fall Weather Friends” in February last year. My favorite episode is “Sonic Rainboom” which I already endorsed in my post on 28 March 2011. Although Rainbow Dash has some of the best moments in the series, my favorite pony is Fluttershy, shortly in front of Twilight Sparkle. I really wish there were My Little Pony action figures of the same quality as my Wallace & Gromit or even my Princess Mononoke action figures. Powree is, of course, also a pony fan.
- Little Red Riding Pony: Oh, Princess Celestia, why aren’t you wearing the royal tiara?
- Little Red Riding Pony: … And oh, Princess Celestia, why is your horn so short?
- Little Red Riding Pony: … And oh, Princess Celestia, why are your fur and feathers pink??
- Princess Celestia: All this is because the pinheads at Hasbro don’t understand that all pony fans over the age of 10 want lifelike action figures of their heroes instead of cheap plastic toys.
sorry for double posting but

although like a mentioned above i dont like ponies that much……it is aperent that if all the suposed “truths” are being voted down….the readers of this comic are happy in the direction that this great comic is headed….and if you disagree than just thumbs down this comment. thats how “Truths” work here. if a post has more thumbs up more agree than not. simple 😉
Wolf in Bears Clothing (its the last thing they’d suspect)
Was wondering if it would ever pop up more significantly. There’ve been several bronies in the comments this entire time, of course. There was the bit with Fluttershy in with the rebels.
Anyway, you are actually indirectly responsible for a good portion of the bronies in Arkansas.
Powree needs to work on that pony’s jawline. Panel three looks painful.
@ KillerOh:
Dude, I’m active in Shortpacked too. Transformers toys fans are also one of the most annoying fans. While you proud about your “Exclusive Optimus Prime” there are tons of fans complaining on how crappy some of the figurines are.
And Arcee? really? *muffled laughter*
@ tahrey:
Heh, so you don’t like the show because it was a “hive mind”?
Really, I was interested of the show when it’s not yet well known, and I can say that it was stand on its own merit. The show is a good show and had great characters and personalities.
Meanwhile Cartoon Network is filled with crap. I think they already took an arrow in the knee. Arrow that they shot themselves.
@ Deko:
‘Tis a sad, sad day when your statement has become undeniable fact.
I weep for the future.
@ Culebra:
I’m not really weeping for the future, way past warriors ride their horses and ponies to the battlefield in pride. Vampires are coward undead who prefer to appear at night and kidnap women in secret. The only manly vampires are Alucard (SOTN) and Arucard (Hellsing).
When vampires no longer manly, bring in the (ponies) cavalry.
Ponies neither talk nor exist!
I have to show this one to my 16 year old son. He’s actually at the local brony meeting 😀 Fluttershy is his favorite, as well.
I have to wholeheartedly agree with this comic.
Last year when a few episodes were posted, my interest was piqued by seeing a modern-day cartoon appropriate one of the famous episodes from the original Star Trek, that is “The Trouble with Tribbles” as heavily referenced in “Swarm of the Century” (note: I had to check the name, I’m not that crazy 🙂 ). After that I began looking around and saw two phenomenal episodes in a row. So, immediately my attention was turned to this as a show worth watching. (Something rare as I rarely ever watch TV and the last shows i latched onto fully and completely was Scrubs and Heroes, though I should have noticed the Big Bang Theory earlier in its life >_<).
Anyway, fast-forward a bit. I work in retail (at the moment) and for a time I was heavily involved in the Toys section. Near the end of that period, I started to see MLP toys specifically advertising the show Friendship is Magic. At this, the initial thought should have been along the lines of:
'Fascinating! Hasbro is capitalizing on this modern recreation of a brand I remember being around in my childhood. And look, they've radically changed everything about this brand to better serve the fans of this revitalized image. Simply amazing! Without a doubt, cultural artifacts that gain this much success and popular attention can reinvent entire company lines and cause an inherent change in the status quo of ancient companies! Viva la Revolution!"
Instead, my reaction was this:
"WTF? O_o"
So with a liberal dose of irony and random musings, needless to say I was slightly bemused that, even with a show that completely changes the perception of a brand, the same…stuff…is being produced (or I assume it's the same in any case). Very much a failing of a company to cater to their consumers that ultimately mitigates the flow of revenue streams (outside of the 10-year old market, as mentioned). And, to summarize, I eagerly await the impossible, or perhaps inevitable, day that brands like Monster High forever/temporarily corrupt Barbie. (Death to Hasbro? Maybe that's a bit too strong…)
Little Pony Toys Made of Plastic
Ha Haa.
this is the best comic ever!!! 😀
Princess Mononoke action figures?
Where do I find the mommy Wolf?
Scully in a previous incarnation?!
Nooooooooooooooooooo!
After resisting it for so long, you caught me off guard and made me to finally give in and dare watch an episode of MLP. After not doing it the entire time while reading TNH. Darn you!
[…] is Magic” homages. Thus I didn’t blink an eye when Sandra and Woo started indulging in My Little Pony comics, though I must admit I found it slightly amusing to see that an off-screen character was […]
@ smith0211:
and the fun has been doubled!
Success! Hasbro has confirmed that they’re making a correctly colored Celestia!
(and a ton of fan favorite ponies, but that’s off topic.)
I love this comic even more now.
@ DHJones:
It could maybe be possibly Cloud
Oh my! First a Fluttershy cameo and now a full comic about My Little Pony? This comic just got 20% Cooler!!! =3
For a long time I had just ignored all the ponies because I thought of them as “girly” until I actually saw the show. I just thought that I would try it out for once. Now I’m a Bronicorn. My favorite character is Discord. I just love how chaotic he is, although I’m disappointed with how he turned Flutter-bitch. Of the Mane6 my favorite is Twilight Sparkle. I just identify with her. We’re both nerds trying to understand ourselves and others. Sometimes I wish that I could be half as organized as her. I also wish that I had magic powers and a devoted assistant.
You know, now that we have Princess Cadance, they can make new tooling for a proper Celestia, and use the old tooling for the Cadance figures. That way toy companies get their pink alicorns, and fans and collectors get the correct models.

This comment is hilarious and sooo true. 😀
This is a great comic, but all the references to Calvin/Hobbes (in the beggining) and the constant Pony references (like this) is one of the things that really sold it ^^
They were foretelling the future since now you can say that’s princess Candance
LOL! One of my friends has that EXACT toy!!! And it’s cross eyed.
Aaaaaasaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
No any thing but
Poooonnnnnnnieeeeeeeeees noooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Original 80’s series is 9000 x’s cooler than FIM could ever dream of being

What do you mean? Never been to a horse farm? you will find that ponies do exist, and while they may not be known to speak a human language, they do ‘talk’ to other ponies (it’s called ‘neighing’ or ‘whinnying’)
Bro hoof ( ‘v’)/)
@ Deko:
I wholeheartedly agree. What a strange world we live in. XD
And I also agree very much with this comic; Hasbro really ought to make sure that the figurines are show accurate before they allow them out into the world. Though I think this is becoming much less of a problem at the time of my posting this. 🙂
I know this comic was from quite a long time ago, but I hope you see this at some point, but it does suit me fine that this is a rather obscure place to mention this: “Sonic Rainboom” brought tears to my eyes. I’m glad my godchildren didn’t happen to turn around and see, I’m still hoping to wait a few more years until I have more of a conversation about certain topics. (not that I keep anything from them, but because I don’t. When they start asking, they understand they can ask all the questions they want. I’ve had the answer ready for “why is the sky blue” since before they were born. I pride myself on being able to play the “ask why in response to everything” to the point where they have to start learning whatever I want to teach them imbedded within my answers and they catch on that I just tricked them into learning something awesome and keep doing so until it makes their brains tired. It takes them longer every time, and that makes me happy.) wow. That went off topic….

Don’t know if the kids are spoiled, or they are truly discriminating fans. Probably both.

I think people would be offended if you called Stephanie Meyer an “author…” so you’re safe.

Actually when they came out with Cadance, I thought they’d be releasing a corrected Celestia…you know, they salvaged the molds and such.
Maybe the toy is just a really sunburned Celestia…she got too close to her work.
Most people would find it odd that no one has watched all of the episodes in order but because they are not really in chronological order it doesn’t really matter, although watching the first 2 episodes of season 1 first is best because thats where they introduce the characters properly. I was really confused when I watched A Canterlot Wedding first with my little sister.
I guess that’s the reason the original TWR STH’s Car: http://thomaswoodenrailway.wikia.com/wiki/Sir_Topham_Hatt%27s_Car_(1994)
looks like that instead of this: http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Sir_Topham_Hatt's_Car reason?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfFKUQRMH8c (It’s in there somewhere)
