- Richard: So you’re predicting that something cataclysmic will happen in five days at 8:37?
- Eugene Tyson: Correct.
- Richard: Please excuse me, the question may seem odd, but I have to ask it.
- Eugene Tyson: Yes?
- Richard: A.m. or p.m.?
- Eugene Tyson: Please, Sir, dream interpretation is not an exact science!

That’s an odd question indeed. Of course 8:37 means it’s gonna be in the morning!
If it was night, it would be 20:37.
Niels Bohr had a point when he argued that “it is difficult to make predictions, especially about the future.”

As if the discussion about the first day of the week wasn’t bad enough… 😀
@ Marteri:
That’s not bat at all. The first day of the week if Monday, of course. As it’s been stated on ISO-8601.
You know I’m technically correct.
The best kind of correct.
Has it been establishes that this prophecy uses the Gregorian calendar?
and in which timezone?
This arc is getting better and better… 😀

Lol @Marteri! You’re right! 🤣
I don’t think anything from the previous strip was scientific.
“dream interpretation is not an exact science.”
Thank you Freud, useless as ever.
@ Nobody:
You said that
@ foducool:
Yanquis and cubans anti-comunist approved that question

Actually, the technical first day of the week is Sunday. But you are right about the technicality.
A lot of people are trying to figure out exactly when “in five days” is. This is a comic, time is irrelevant. “In five days” could be the next update or a month from now. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
@ Marteri:
And now I have to put this here. The funniest stand up comedy scene about telling time. From the Irish legend, Dave Allen

@ Welsh Rat:
Actually, use this one. Better sound.

@ Chuck:
If the webcomic updates slowly enough, maybe it will push “8:37 in five days” to 2021, so the very important event does not have to be a catastrophe!
Chuck wrote:
There was a June 2020 calendar in the last comic. If we assume they keep the calendar up-to-date, that means at the latest this event will happen July 5th.

Thank you, thank you. That was hilarious. It was even more hilarious on repeat!
I had never heard of Dave Allen but thanks to YouTube “related” I have the next couple of hours to get acquainted. (If my belly muscles can last long enough!)

Don’t we start counting at zero, though, making Monday the 0th, Tuesday the 1st and so on?
Reminds me of good old:
“And it happened 7.23 am 14th July…. maybe during the year 1857
@ Chris:
ISO-8601 says weekdays are numbered from 1 through 7, beginning with Monday and ending with Sunday: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_week_date
So there! 🙂
8:37 is not exact at all mind you…
@ foducool:
That is exactly what I was going to ask.
Well, if something cataclysmic were about to happen, she migth as well have some … fun with Cloud.
Where did she put that maid outfit?
If not science, then it’s an art?
@ Chris:
I’d think it was day 0, but still it was the 1st day. 😀
Crustimony proceedcake.
8:37 in who’s timezone? In what country will the disaster occur? The there is my favorite saying. “Your armorgeddon may be my best day ever. So never wish me to have a good day.” I would call it a good day if the human population of the planet was reduced to 1% so the term cataclysm is open to interpretation.
