Visitors were blocked due to website misconfiguration

During the last days, an unknown number of visitors was blocked from accessing the website due to a misconfiguration that was meant to combat comment spam. I don’t understand why it had such an effect, but everything should work again after I reverted the changes.
Ok, so this is what that weird “Follow.it” email was about and your site wasn’t hacked and sending out spam emails to everyone?
