The current story arc started with this strip: Dinner.
- Heather: Hey Siddy, I have a few tasty nuts for you!
- Heather: Darn! I forgot to close the door of Siddy’s cage.
- Sid: SQUEE
- Heather: OH NO!
- Heather: Aww…

As the late Paul Harvey would say: “Now you know The Rest of The Story!”
@ Iron Ed:
Wrong again…..Sorry i heard Heather say “Siddies cage” And thats how i thought that…..Meaning Possibly Shadows mom was hit by sabriana to! (BTW Shadow did not try to eat sid a couple/several Story arks ago that was a marten and ALSO if you meant like chapters or whatever this is a STORY it happend before they grew up and all the funny bla bla bla started. Make since?
aaaaaawwwwwwww, Yea I am again way behind everyone. Someday I will have enough time to check before 10 days pass
@ Greek:
You do understand that Shadow more than likely cannot write. You should also understand that Shadow was very, VERY hungry and Sid’s life was saved by oreos, given by Woo.
Also, there are about a thousand reasons why a fox would be in a Ranger’s apartment. Considering shadow is a kit, his mother could have been killed, he had an injury, he was sick, etc etc.
Just providing a one-sided theory does not help anything.
On the hand of the comic:
D’awwww…
~!*<3<3<3*!~ So Cute!!
@ Everanesce:
Yah i am mostly wrong but i just say my opinion….who does not? (Don’t answer that) but now that the war clouds are over..Shadow is so CUTE :3 same with sid…dang this is better then Chibi art.
This happened to me. I discovered my cat in my rat’s cage. To my surprise, they were visiting happily. The two of them were best buds forever after.
So THAT’S how Sid met Shadow!
But how did Shadow get in to the wildlife rehabilitator?
@ Greek:
What “war clouds”? That’s why I put all the emoticons in my posts. Was just trying to help out, and then posting -my- opinion of their friendship. 🙂 🙂 🙂 (all peaceful and light now!)
I’m very touched! And now it all makes sense now. This is the way how predator and prey can become life long friends…
This reminds me from a nature documentary that I saw once. Nearly adult leopard cub started to take care of orphan monkey cub whose mom her mom had just killed and they probably have both eaten it. She in essence wanted to play mom for small monkey and, at the end, she ended up defending the small monkey against her own mom. Her mom seemed to thought that she want’s to keep her own pray her self and that she want’s to become adult and independent now. So she let her almost adult daughter to keep ‘her pray’, but left her to become completely independent. Then in couple of days the small monkey died, because young leopard simply wasn’t capable to take care of small orphan monkey who would still have needed help from mother. Young leopard seemed first bit upset, but then left died orphan monkey to tree and continued to life her life as young adult leopard.
So in real nature surprising things can happened…
well that explains it
@ Iron Ed:
By “War clouds” i meant spam and dislikes out of the blue
@ Everanesce:
Say Waaaaaaaaaa? Whats oreos got to do with this? this happend WAY before Shadow and Sid met Woo…Hell this is before Woo was even addopted by sandra (I think).
@ Greek:
They’re talking about the reference to the arc a while back where Shadow was really hungry and almost ate Sid, but Woo gave him oreo’s. Which, yeah, is actually in the future from his point if we go chronologically. ^^

i didnt realize ‘squee” was so widely used in webcomics. it comes up often in the one i cant remember, but it has shown up in sinfest, penny arcade and qc, for examples.
AWWWW!!!
D’awww! And this explains the lifelong friendship of fox and squirrel….
This isn’t really far-fetched even ignoring that the animals have intelligence and language. There are exceptions of course, but by far the most common reason for animals to kill each other is for food, and Shadow is clearly well-fed here. Bonds between different species are extremely well documented in the real world, so it also makes sense they would stick together after they escape.
