- Michelle: Ew, what was that?
- Zoey: I… I was just so happy for you that I–
- Michelle: You’re the best, Zoey…
- Michelle: … But only really gay lesbos kiss each other on the mouth. Keep that, like, in mind.
- Michelle: Bye. I gotta go.
- Zoey: Bye.

@ Pylgrim:
You use to read Sinfest didnt you lol
Has anyone ever gotten that feeling, where you feel humiliated or devastated, connecting to a fictional character? It feels kind of like having the breath knocked out of you. That third panel just gave it to me BAD. It’s just like, “You had more than one option, but you chose the one that made you look ignorant AND permanently damaged your dearest friendship…”
Subversion! Woohoo!
To avoid any confusion, I’m not saying that I like to see anyones heart get broken or that I hate homosexuality, I just happen to really like subversions of predictable plot twists.
I know Zoeys a bitch, but still… Poor bab 🙁
Michelle earlier caught Zoey looking at her lovestruck, so either she’s dense or she’s just pretending she doesn’t know what’s going on. If it’s the latter than the hug she gives Zoey has two purposes.
1) She’s letting Zoey know she’s still interested in being her friend.
2) She’s sending the message “you see how we’re hugging now? Well, this is how we’re going to do it!”
A big problem is that Zoey may (maybe even rightfully) think that she now has to keep up an act of not being lesbian else she jeopardizes her friendship with Michelle.
Well, I suppose NateTheGreat and his ilk are happy anyway…
The feels have taken a critical hit… Poor Zoey =(
Well, that failed. But remember, there are three other quadrants Zoey can explore!!
@ mateo360:
Because that is how Novil works.
Zoey got Rejected… Like my brother always does.
@ Budo:
I meant the feels that are generated by this are similar to the feels bambi generates with me
Love when Webcomics take Side Characters & expand on them; makes things more Interesting. Just hope that Zoey isn’t being made into a “Token Lesbian”, but an Real Character.
So is Zoey a lesbo or just friends?
For sad music to go with this…

Wow…that’s got to hurt. >~<
…It kinda makes me want to cry.

Yep, you got it. I bet most readers never expected to feel sympathy for Zoey of all people. And I bet that Larissa, in accordance with her chaotic nature and in contrast to their previous mutual animosity, will turn out to be Zoey’s main defender.
And this is where I throw bombs at a bitch! 🙂
Saw it coming~ :I
@ Crystalgate:
If you look at past strips for Zoey and Michelle, Michelle seems to be rather dense, worse than Zoey in fact. (Her 3rd appearance has her teasing Sandra and failing, with Zoey pointing out why she’s failing.) She also seems to be meaner, at least as far as in-comic actions have shown. (Her 2nd appearance has her calling Larissa a slut.) So it could go either way.
Personally, the way she does this makes me think she’s figured it out but is trying to pretend otherwise to stay friends with Zoey. And just destroyed Zoey’s ego by accident in the process because she’s got that whole dumb/mean thing going on from her personality.
What I find ironic, and I haven’t noticed anyone else mentioning, is this is a bit of Zoey’s choice of friends coming back to bite her. She picked a dumb, mean girl to be her best friend, then fell in love with her. And of course, she ends up with a mean response that crushes her because of the type of person Michelle is. She may have learned a valuable lesson here, one that goes beyond her romantic/sexual interests.
Bright side: Michelle seems to think it was some type of mistake and is more than willing to teach her that normal friends don’t kiss that way.
Dark side: It pretty much broke Zoey’s heart in the process. And changed nothing. Except maybe making things a bit worse.
Have to admit it was a good save from Zoey.
Aw, man…, first Kin/Minmax, now Zoey/Michelle…, my heart can’t take much more of this. I don’t even like Zoey, and I found her crushing cute and endearing. Now I just want someone to give her a hug to make her feel better.
what happened to the like/ dislike discussion system? I felt like that made the comments worth reading…
stefan_san wrote:
Well, as i recall some of Larissa’s earlier gestures could be taken as Black advances. Like forcing her to eat her homework. ;P
Aww Michelle’s expression changed and she lost all her adorableness.
Oh wow, there are two more pages of comments that I didn’t notice. Didn’t this comic go up just today?
@ Jon:
Novil explained a few weeks ago that there were some technical issues and the like/dislike subsystem had to be disabled. I don’t know the detail nor an estimate for how long it will be.
Personally I prefer not to have that system because it always made me worry that I would receive dislikes and would often refrain from expressing my opinion or posting at all. Despite that I don’t normally care much about the opinions of a bunch of strangers on the Internet. Interesting what a rating system will do to you. I do agree that it helped to quickly get to the more interesting comments though.
That’s the problem with crushes, Zoey. There’s a reason why they’re called crushes.
And now where adding drama to this mix, well its had a good run of comedy the last what? Six years
I’m sorry, are we missing the “really gay” part of that? She’s not denying that they’re in lesbians, just that they’re not in “really gay” lesbians.
“Gay lesbo”? Wouldn’t that make her straight? XD
But, seriously, what the f***? How oblivious can a “friend” be about that?
@ pip25:
From http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/harassment:
harassment (either harris-meant or huh-rass-meant) n. the act of systematic and/or continued unwanted and annoying actions of one party or a group, including threats and demands.
Note “systematic and/or continued”. A single spontaneous kiss is neither systematic or continued. If someone repeatedly would spontaneously kiss someone, despite the other person not wanting to be kissed, that’s harassment. A single kiss acting upon uncertain feelings is not, by any legal definition I know of, harassment. So someone shouting harassment over the situation in the comic would, legally at least, be entirely off-base.
Of course, I cannot speak for countries other than the United States on this matter. However, I find it extremely unlikely that any country would define Zoey’s actions as harassment, even if Zoey were actually “Zack”, because harassment is, by definition, an ongoing and systematic act.
Now, if Zoey kept on kissing her, that’d be a different matter….
I guess Michelle is not the right gal for a really gay lesbo like her .-.
Ahh this is sad, i am sad. And her friend isn’t even nice about it. She straight up said only gay lesbos do that as if it was a bad thing. Geez, she must be crushed.
I wonder how she’s gonna deal with the heartbreak though
Probably projecting her anger and being an uberbully
@ Pylgrim: …Really? You think a male in his early teens, who obviously (to the audience, at least) had romantic feelings for a close best friend and didn’t have the experience to read the situation, would be severely criticised for getting caught up in a moment where he’s happy for her and giving her a peck on the lips, then completely backing off as soon as he realised it wasn’t wanted?
Maybe I’m speaking from the perspective of a different culture, but anyone in my environment who came down hard on that poor boy would be considered cold and cruel. Early teen has crush on a close peer, early teen makes relatively innocent move whilst feeling emotional, early teen backs off the second they realise the crush is one-sided.
@ Mark Antony:
Regardless, of what the Free Dictionary claims, people have been accused of sexual harassment because of a single kiss, which even seemed completely appropriate at the time. Google the following article if you’d like: “Sexual Harassment: Are We Now Too Sensitive?” The incident in question is right at the beginning of it.
And no, I’m not saying that’s even remotely sane by any meaning of the word.
There’s a million different things she could’ve said that would be WORSE…..but all of it would be like compared which sharp implement is used to stab someone’s heart with. This is like using a pocket knife and just leaving it in there.
Someone throw me a life preserver my ship is sinking.
@ ekimmak:
I think it’s more that her best friend/romantic interest has just made it abundantly clear that she is very anti-homosexuality, possibly to the point of homophobia.
The fact that the team actually made me feel sympathy for a character that has been nothing but repulsive up until now requires kudos. And possibly some comfort food for me (and Zoey).
@ pip25:
Right, I know some people get accused of harassment for that sometimes, but my original comment was that a single spontaneous kiss isn’t harassment as an objective matter.
You said it yourself: slinging accusations in that situation is insane. We can’t predicate our definitions on insane accusations because anyone can make them, and if someone sufficiently insane sits in judgment of the case it might even succeed. There’s a lot of people in the world. If .1% of the people in the world were crazy or stupid, that’s 300,000 people in the United States alone and 7 million worldwide. And a heck of a lot more than .1% of people are either crazy, stupid, or both. Mistaken, dubious, or outright idiotic accusations of harassment are practically a statistical certainty.
I guess ultimately I don’t understand what you’re taking issue with. I think you agree with me that a single spontaneous kiss, without more, is objectively not harassment. I think we both agree that people who file for sexual harassment under such circumstances are insane. I linked the Free Dictionary because its legal dictionary’s definitions are quite good, and I can’t exactly link you one of my casebooks or Westlaw. I referenced the movies as an example of how the circumstance in the comic is pretty accepted in the mainstream and frequently seen without objection.
Is our disagreement over the idea that most people don’t think of a single spontaneous kiss as being sexual harassment? Because I don’t think most people do, the odd litigious moron notwithstanding. I can’t back this up with statistics or anything, and I am not sure such statistics even exist. I can only speak to the culture I live in and the legal system of which I am a student, and neither defines sexual harassment so broadly. It’s anecdotal evidence, but I’m afraid that’s all I got.
Larissa ? But she’s with Mr Book Smart Guy who helped with a few lessons. @ CDRom11:
Got her first taste of denial, eh? It happens. Move on. Life is not fair and you will get more people telling you No than Yes.
Awwww, them feels. :<
@ ekimmak:
im confused whats the difrence realy gay lesbo seems redundent unless there meaning happy but im getting the impresion she was just not forulating her sentances corectly
@ Pylgrim:
true but not a conversation for this lovely comic ^.^
…*cry*
Fine. it wasn’t built up properly, but it seems like it’s going to be handled well plot-wise. I can forgive the overly rushed reveal then.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Dang nab it….
@ Mr_Nabby:
Clearly ( )
I totally called that shit! 🙁
i know were supposed to see zoey as the enemy but i just feel bad for her. Poor Zoey 🙁
