[0680] Modus Operandi
└ posted on Monday, 4 May 2015, by Novil
I have created a blog post in which you can ask me questions about Sandra and Woo.
- Melody: Thank you for the nice evening.
- Melody: Really made you believe I’m a filthy rich cannibal, huh?
- Richard: Haha, yeah. Ya really got me there.
- Sandra: “Cambridge, Massachusetts. Once again, the decapitated bodies of two young men were found near Upper Mystic Lake. Police now suspect a serial killer behind the murders.”
- Richard: I hope Melody won’t mind being “just friends”.
Welp! She’s a keeper!
Good to see Richard has the good sense not to lose his head over a woman.
He’s got a good head on his shoulders and the intent to keep it there.

And don’t forget that she actually brought along the headge clippers!
*breathes a sigh of relief* So S&W isn’t getting as weird as I thought it would be.
*reads last panel* Eh, it still ain’t so bad.
@ that87guy:
*still Has a head.

You mean those two random comments about how Melody’s behavior was somehow “feminist” that got entirely ignored?
Everyone else was just talking about SJWs, the subject of the last comic. SJW is a term describing (some of) the excesses of tumblr. Feminism is alive and well outside of tumblr, so I’m not sure what you’re on about.
Everyone knows /b/ is cancer, and everyone knows that tumblr is full of idiots. Just like many other places on the internet.
Or do you mean those people who told Richard to stay far away from her because they thought she was serious? Dumb maybe, but misogyny? I don’t see it. I call bullshit.
They are PERFECT for each other. Melody wants to cut mens head off; a few pages ago Richard wanted to commit a similar action with a sharpened axe and a good alibi. They have so much in common.

Dang.. Every time I see the abbreviation “S&W” I think “Smith & Wesson”. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Weelllll then.

It could have been worse.
Melody could have been the Pervect mate for Richard.
.
didn’t this used to be a middle-schooler’s slice of life comic?
Am I the only one who wants to see Sandra, Cloud, Larisa, and Woo all go on another adventure to try and find this serial killer? I really, REALLY miss the adventure arcs this comic used to do.
In the news recently there have been a bunch of dramas when a man friendzoned a woman.
For example at Columbia university mattress girl hooked up with a guy, and in the morning he friendzoned her. She relentlessly pursued him, they had sex again, and he friendzoned her again. She relentlessly pursued him some more, they hooked up a third time, and he friendzone her yet again. After which she stopped pursuing him, and eventually charged him with being a serial rapist, assembling a couple of friends to add some additional rapes. Much drama ensued.
Similarly the horrific UVA rape case reported by Rolling Stone. Jackie Coakley claimed to have been horribly raped by evil frat boys, on broken glass for extra fun points.
Turned out that she had been friendzoned by Randal. So, to catfish Randal, Jackie Coakley created a sockpuppet, Haven Monahan, using the photo of real person, a handsome high school football player, that it seem she never met in person, but very much wished she had met. “Haven Monahan”, (actually Jackie Coakley using a false identity) then sent emails to Randal to make him jealous. Eventually “Haven Monahan” supposedly brutally rapes Jackie Coakley, but continues to send letters to Randal to make him jealous.
This eventually results in massive disciplinary action against the frats for enabling and encouraging this supposed rape and vigilante attacks on frats and frat members.
@ redneck01:
Yeeeeahhhh, neither of those accounts of what happened are actually true, sorry. The Rolling Stone article had serious flaws, and the case was suspended due to lack of evidence and issues with the testimony, but there’s no actual evidence of the sort of malicious false report you’re claiming just yet.
Meanwhile, the first one… basically, the guy has used “evidence” that doesn’t really prove anything either way to try to suggest she’s making things up, and has sued her for the accusation. This doesn’t actually say anything about the accuracy of the allegation just yet — Jian Ghomeshi also sued over his being accused of rape, in his case filing suit against the CBC for firing him.

Just a slight mythadventure
got a mythconception, too.
might be some mythmanagement to it.
So everything goes back to normal then? or what?
@ Nezumi:
“Yeeeeahhhh, neither of those accounts of what happened are actually true, sorry.”
Google catfishing Monahan email
The evidence that both of these rape accusations were malicious and motivated by friendzoning is clear and overwhelming, and indeed always was from the very first day. The only reason no one laughed is because laughter is forbidden when a woman cries rape, no matter how obviously improbable and blatantly malicious the cry. We now have Jackie Coaklies sockpuppet account, and the emails she sent as her supposed rapist, Haven Monahan.
Jackie Coakley’s final email as Haven Monahan to the man who friendzoned her is most entertaining. You should read it. About halfway through the email she seems to forget she is sending it as Haven Monahan, brutal sadistic rapist, and, unable to keep her sockpuppets straight, starts begging the man who friendzoned her to have sex with her, in her own feminine voice, rather than the masculine voice of the fictitious rapist, Haven Monahan. I have not linked to the final Haven Monahan email, because it might be argued to violate this comics policy on links, but you can find it easily if you want to – and indeed everyone could from the beginning have found it easily had anyone wanted to. All they needed to do was to ask the people that Jackie Coakley complained were covering up her rape and treating it as no big deal – because it seems that everyone who blew off her alleged rape had seen the email that “Haven Monahan” sent to the man that she was stalking.
People say that something really bad must have happened to the women that made these accusations because they were so shaken up – and indeed something really bad did happen to them: Friendzoned!
I was sent to an Adultfriendfinder page when I clicked on Sandra and Woo on the Gaia page. Anyone else experienced this?

Just Yesterday, as a matter of fact.
I went back and tried S&W a second time and it worked fine the Second time.
Not sure what was going on.
It happened to me when I clicked on the link to See the comments.
@ abowden:Why not both?
I have been pretty confused by this storyline. I have no idea why they suddenly went from not liking each other to having a date, her joke just seemed bizarre and off-putting, and their attitude tword each other changes from comic to comic. I don’t know what is going on
guys. its TWO MEN. she’s such a player, damn.
” I have no idea why they suddenly went from not liking each other to having a date,”
Hate iis not the opposite of love.
The opposite of love is indifference.

What you just described is actually a fairly normal relationship.

That happens because its posted at midnight in like….Germany. Which is several hours ahead of America.
“”I don’t care what you say, YOU’RE GONNA WALK HOME!!””
I think she is a cool concept for a character, exept for the whole decapitation thing, or mabye she just didn’t want ot have anymore kids so that was her way of stopping him from asking.
Have to wonder what it is that makes Larisa’s crazy fun & adorable, but Melody’s crazy creepy and off-putting?
Hmm…
I don’t know what Novil intended, but what I get from this is as follows:
Melody starts at Richard’s job. She’s assertive, aggressive, abrasive and very often (most irritating to Richard) right. As a result of this, because he’s a guy, he finds himself attracted to her. (let’s face it, people are very often attracted to things they cannot have… she shows every sign of being impossible to even be friends with, therefore Richard is attracted) Half the readership see wedding bells as this is an “obvious” hook-up scenario. (as though every woman that acts aggressive to a man “obviously” means she wants his babies)
She “friend-zoned” him the first time she saw his slop code. (Yes! I say Slop Code!) When he asks her out to dinner, she accept for the express purpose of seeing to it he never does so again… EVER! Why? Because she’s assertive, aggressive and abrasive. (and not attracted to him at all) Sure, she could just turn him down, but where’s the fun in that?
A few minutes browsing Tumblr quotes, another few minutes on Google and a trip to the Home Depot later and she has an air-tight method of turning him off permanently. Bonus: it’s hilarious to the readers and not what anyone was expecting.
I personally thing the people that don’t find this funny are just upset that they were wrong about the potential love interest and are now annoyed at being caught off guard.
Eh… I laughed! Pure genius!
I’ve read your article, and have to say – that is really a gem.
