@ Segoat: Actually… Tim Buckley explained why he did it after so many people got offended by it. Ethan and…can’t remember her name…ugh… Anyway, Ethan and his wife were based off of friends of his. When they declared they were having a baby? He put that into the comic. When she had a miscarriage and then couldn’t conceive again? Despite how terrible a thing it was, he put that into the comic. A lot of what he did in CAD 1.0 with Ethan, Lucas, etc. were all based off of his real life friends. That’s party of why he rebooted the series in the end and now we have CAD 2.0. He didn’t like the way the characters were anymore because they were too real. He didn’t want to tell epic stories, he wanted to tell spoofs and make wise cracks at video games. Essentially, he didn’t like the stuff he did in CAD 1.0 and decided to change it.
If raccoons only live for three years, then… one of these kits may replace Woo someday.
…Yay, Whee, Whoop and Hoo?
Actually, Raccoons who live more in the Human world than the Wild tend to live closer to 20 years.
Woo is going to be around for quite a while yet.
With a little bit of Luck, so will his Family.
And cartoon raccoon characters can live pass the age of 50.
People really hating Tim for talking about a real world problem that his couple gone through… Grow some backbone kiddos and stop whining.
Still it’s really cute, congrats you two ! ( babies marsupilamis are a little cuter imho, still it’s super dawww )

No, that’s not how probability works. 4+0 and 0+4 are each a 1-in-16 chance. 3+1 and 1+3 are each a 1-in-4 chance. 2+2 is a 3-in-8 chance. Look up “binomial distribution”.
Yeah, I’m really surprised as to what things people tend to consider a cliché sometimes.
Whether it’s a cliché, in this context, isn’t about how often it occurs in real life. It’s about how often it occurs in fiction.
@ hotduelist:
And, that was what it was meant to do. A good story can make you feel the highs, and the lows. You felt for them, you had to think about it, and process it. Someone above said that it fell flat. Falling flat refers to jokes. It wasn’t a joke. And, that is the fundamental issue. It wasn’t what people expected, and therefor for some, not what they “wanted”.
One of the most praised, and most hated, episodes of Law & Order was a season ender. No crime was investigated, no one prosecuted. No one went to jail, and the only reason the main characters went to a bar, was to drink. The whole episode was about the main characters, and how they dealt with witnessing an execution. We learned about parts of their personal lives, and their personal flaws. And, in the end, one of them died a sudden, senseless, tragic death. Was it wrong to do this kind of show? Many people over the years have said so, because it wasn’t what they expected from the series, and so, in their eyes, not what they wanted. They expected the formula that most of the shows used, and didn’t get that.
But, that didn’t make it wrong for them to air it. It said something, and told a story that wasn’t the same. It had an impact on the rest of the series for years.
In the early 80’s, G.I.Joe was Marvel Comics best seller. But, when issue #21 came out, it was something that many saw as either a flop, or a great story. In that issue, with the exception of the title and credits, no words were used. To this day “Silent Interlude” is considered one of the greatest, if not the greatest, single issues of all time, of any comic. A few details from that issue effected the story line for all G.I.Joe, continuing into the comics made today. And, it changed it from a toy with a comic, to a comic with a toy.
If that one strip from many years ago was such a failure, such a flop, why are we talking about it today? If it fell so flat, why did it have so much impact, that it’s influencing this strip, years later? Or, are you upset, because it didn’t make you feel… That you didn’t feel… anything?
Think about it. Agree, or disagree, the whole point is to think and feel.
I had never seen the Ctrl+Alt+Del comic titled “Loss”, and this comic still worked without that knowledge. That’s a sign of good writing.
Now that I’ve looked at that comic(I’ve heard plenty about it on a Webcomics Weekly podcast), I appreciate the use of the log in place of the hospital desk, as well as the title of this strip.
I found the others who do it to try to cope with personal tragedy not only do it better, but they seem to be more aware of trying to becareful and not make it look distasteful or trying to exploit their friends. Jim Davis of Garfield fame did a comic about it, he did it when it happened recently at the time, and he tried to be tasteful about it with the writing, not mentioning death if I recall correctly
Another thing to consider is Davis and other cartoonists are class acts with a good reputation. Tim Buckley, with the way he acts is disgraceful. He is known to be very rude to people and being power hungry on his forums. The timing of the comic was a bit off as well, not only it came out of nowhere, he mentioned it happened in the past. Why bring it up now?
I don’t like Tim Buckley at all and I don’t think he’s a good person at all, that’s another reason why I think he was trying to profit off of tragedy, because of how shady he is.
I just realized that this was published a little over 65 days after #669 Spoilers. The gestation period of raccoons is roughly 65 days. I was just wondering if that was intentional or a coincidence.
@ pretty flacko:
It’s a reference to Ctrl-Alt-Del’s shark-jumping moment where one of the characters had a miscarriage. That author ruined it by (a) continuing to show their usual corny game stuff during the arc, and (b) eventually attempting to play the miscarriage itself for laughs.
\(^O^)/ ¡WOO!

Those in comic strips never age. Many researchers are trying to discover why, to prevent the agony process in humans.

So, they took seriously the offer made by their Goddess during Butterfly’s victory party if they bred that night…splendid.
Goddamn I didn’t even realise it was a stab at Buckley at first.
My sides hurt
@ pretty flacko:
Some time ago, Ctrl-Alt-Del had an arc where Lilah was pregnant, and it ended with her having a miscarriage
This comic’s blocking mimics that exact comic
@ Xezlec:
What if one of them just die
You know….. predators
Look. Loss was dumb and obnoxious and it doesn’t stop being dumb and obnoxious because you’re pointing out how dumb and obnoxious it is.
So dang cute. I never expected this. This strip is going to be a lot more interesting now
@ jeffepp:
That CAD strip nearly broke me. I did not expect that and I was in tears
YAY!!!
\O/ \O/ \O/ \O/

Does Tibor know yet?
I honestly didn’t see this coming. I didn’t even know Lily was pregnant. Congrats to the Raccoon family!

Ok, so when did this all happen? (And don’t say it started with that Racoon God, I know that part already)
I see the one on the right already has the concept of the fourth wall down pat. *Waves.
@ Charles Bowditch:
It all happened when woo slept with lily. That or when they did it on Sandra’s table that one night. Probably the later
@ AustKyzor:
I’ve just lost over an hour browsing cad searching for this comic, and it was just there :'(
@ Cale Baird:
That my thought too.

Surprised Woo didn’t say “Woo!” in the last panel XD
I can’t help but notice that the names of the writers are now displayed at a different format.

I had completely forgotten about that episode. Probably deliberately erased all traces of it from my memory banks.
Congrats to the new parents!

Well, not really a surprise since they told us in Spoilers… pretty obvious
but look how cuuuute!! ^_^
This miscarriage episode was the reason I didn’t even start to read the CAD webcomic.
