I’d bet she found a vote that could be interpreted as invalid. (Spelling error or “Sandra (I love you) or something)
Or Larissa really faked a ballot…?
In principle, if you have several candidates, you just have to make sure the followers of the other candidates spread out their votes. So, you have to get some Zoey voters to vote for Taylor & some Sebastian voters as well.
Suppose Zoey did find out after looking through all the thrown out votes that she did win the election by a slim margin and that the initial result was an accident. Should she even be awarded the class rep position?
I dunno, any teachers around that want to weigh in?
@ oledakaajel:
No, Woo’s old owner is Novil. A speaking raccoon and lost election for class rep drives people to insanity, beating it and living a drunken life writing webcomics. So she will become Novil!
Its either someone voted twice, she forgot to vote, or something else that will create a draw meaning their should be a run off vote.
I figure the teacher would have noticed when writing the votes on the board in a previous comic if the number of votes didn’t match the number of students, so it seems more likely that someone *cough* Larissa… may have tampered with the election by faking the votes of some students(remove their actual vote and writing in a different one)
Novil doesn’t usually beat a theme to death, so I doubt what Zoey noticed would affect the tally. But she probably noticed that someone voted for someone she wouldn’t have expected that ey would vote for.
Even if something *was* wrong in a way that would change the result here – we’re talking about an openly sore loser finding this evidence by somewhat sneaky means, with no witnesses. Would anybody believe her? (Possibly her close friends – but anybody in a position of power?)
Wait… Even if she recognized something wrong with the votes, she’s the only one there with no witnesses. It would be easy for someone to claim she doctored the invalid vote. I mean she obviously has tons of motive, and this hasn’t been a very clean election.
@ Francisco:
If you zoom into the 2nd panel, you can see that they are not pre-printed, as there are some with Zoey on top and some with Sandra, and if they were pre-printed, the first name would always be the same and one would be able to see multiple names at least on one of them.
@ Trimutius:
This or something similar preparing the next story arc.
So what? Nothing wrong with that. You are, after all, supposed to vote for the candidate you think will be best suited for the job. If that were yourself, why on earth would you vote for anyone else?
You don’t usually have printed voting papers in class rep election (granted, you don’t have voting campaigns either), usually the students write the name of the person they vote for on the paper, so one could recognize the handwriting.
My bet is recognizing the handwriting of someone, who voted differently then she thought.
This is by far the most likely theory here. Michelle is also the most likely suspect.
Some have suggested that Larisa has tampered with the votes. However, I don’t think she could have done so during the voting process. Most likely the student just wrote down the name of the one they voted for, the teacher took the notes and then counted them. There would be no room for Larisa to tamper with anything there. Zoey is also holding a vote for Taylor, not Sandra.
It is however possible that Larisa convinced Michelle or somebody else just to not vote on Zoey, but that doesn’t have to be the case at all.

Well Assuming my girlfriend at this point imaginary- would run for such position I would vote against her just to have more time with her.
@ Paeris Kiran:
Zoey having less time for Michelle or maybe seemingly being more interested in becoming the class rep than in Michelle may very well be the motivation (or a point Larisa made to manipulate Michelle if we’re going with a Larisa manipulation theory). I think Michelle is Zoey’s friend and not girlfriend though, but your reasoning can work with a friend as well.

Right, chain of custody. Sometimes the courts even care about it.
With the vote count being right and the look on her face being like that it is highly probable that what is on that paper is Mona Lisa equivalent of doodles and she is going to pass it around with praise like it is the best thing since the wide spread implication of reliable internet.
Huh, first comment.
So… what exactly did she find? Was Larissa ballot-stuffing?
What, she’s going to claim that she won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College? Zoey, that doesn’t work in school elections.
Please, don’t let it be a hanging Chad. I couldn’t bear to see Chad hung.
I’d bet she found a vote that could be interpreted as invalid. (Spelling error or “Sandra (I love you) or something)

@ Vidad:
Bingo. She’s specifically holding a vote for Taylor, with handwriting she recognizes.
Plot twist! She voted for Taylor herself!

@ Arent:
Maybe, but I can think of at least one person who should have been a sure bet to vote for Zoey, who’s writing Zoey would definitely recognize.
Will she claim she won and Sandra become the next Novil? Find out Monday!

Now that I think about. Is it plot twist with some female classmate putting a ♥ next to Zoey’s name?

Forgot to vote herself.

Poor Taylor.
Let me guess.
Somebody voted for themselves.
She’s getting votes from the bin. Couldn’t some of the binned votes be from when someone spoiled their ballots?

I just had another thought: Assuming that the ballot papers have the names already printed on, maybe a cross is placed so that it crosses 2 boxes?

I believe the word “petty” fits this very accurately (or the next page will)

Looks like the votes were hand-written. And she should know at least some persons’ hand-writing.
My hunch is that someone erased their vote and marked something else.
@ Brett Bellmore:
Hanging’s to good for him!
Maybe one of the other candidates voted for Sandra, and ran mainly to split Zoey’s vote.
@ MidoriLuna:
Zoey!
Also, her friend.
I’ll bet Sandra voted for Taylor. Probably thought it was tacky to vote for herself.

She found Woo’s ballot.
