I have posted the top 12 of the Gaia artwork contest:
Update [3 September 2018]: I added a caption to the last panel so that it’s easier to understand what is going on.
- Zoey: Ha ha! Match point!
- Zoey: ?
- Sandra: ?
- Sign: Fate Alteration Engine
- Fortuna: John, what are you doing there?

Trolling your readers twice in a row, I see.
Did any of them film this happening?
@ Trimutius:
I hate to break it to you but I think you’re right about that
@ PS2kid:
When money and copyright is involved, the internet is definitely serious business (if you have never experienced such, I can see why you might be so ignorant). If I didn’t stand up for myself, no one would have. I shall not discuss the matter with you further.
Well, my favorite goddess is now canon in the Sandra and Woo universe. Hell yeah! One comment though, Fortuna is almost always seen with her eyes covered, to show that she is impartial.
It’s a freakin free webcomic on the internet!! You’re not even paying anything to read this comic and you’re talking about money and copyright ??? My gawd. Your life must be very sad when even a simple webcomic could turn you into such an uptight ***** and an attempt to make a friendly joke offend you so much because everything on the internet is serious for you.
I guess Novil was justified for targeting you because you turn his work that should be taken lightly for entertainment purpose into a serious thing.
Heh, now that’s a good one. Never thought I’d see the day where God would interfere in a simple ping-pong match. I wonder what his intentions are?
On another note, I’m here to hear news about a certain character, namely: Woo, who seems to have vanished from the comics. Where is he and how is he doing?
…. He’s not dead, is he?
@ PS2kid:
Go to strip 1017 and read my reasoning for being upset in the comments there. You’re not involved in the matter so I shall not discuss it further with you. Leave this comments section for comments about the actual strip.
@ DSconocidos:
Maybe Sandra disposed of him after his loyalty faltered? 😉
Like I said. What a sad human being Brijeka is. Getting so serious over webcomic content.
I have made comments about other web comics and the logic inherent in them but have always understood they exist only in the mind of the author. Taking any web comic as a serious depiction of reality is not only silly but borderline psychotic. Do you question the physics of giant eagles in LOTR or mass distribution in the Hulk? (Actually I do question the Hulks mass and weight gain at times) Are you religious? Plenty to question there. Seriously if you can’t enjoy the strip why read it? Some people seem to live to complain. Finally it is just a comic no more reality based than Peanuts which had a dog flying a doghouse in battle with the Red Baron of WW1.
@ PS2kid:
Geez man do you have a grudge against me or something?! I haven’t done anything to you. Grow up and leave that stuff on the previous post where it belongs. If I can move on, why can’t you?
@ Gamesman:
Some people just enjoy trying to model ridiculous systems in a realistic fashion. It’s more of a brain exercise than ‘herpaderp dis dun work lmao’
As to the original complaint that lead to this. Since when is swimwear automatically about sexual attraction? Swimwear serves several functions. It is designed to get wet without discomfort cover the naughty bits and be fashionable. If we didn’t have our hang-ups about nudity we would swim nude because it’s far more practical. But if he portrayed that he’d be shut down immediately. Not saying he should but acknowledging the obvious. Nudity, partial nudity or revealing clothing do not = sex. This is the mindset that makes rape the victim’s fault. Try to update your values. It is 2018 not 1818.
@ Brijeka Vervix:
Yes I said I have also commented about these things. But I always keep in mind it isn’t reality.
BTW You should have just been happy to be mentioned and maybe understood his feelings. He works hard to produce a web comic that’s funny and cute and people complain because of swimsuits? Really? You do realize that it’s easier to draw a swimsuit than jeans and a t-shirt? Plus the whole thing started at the pool. Your complaints are based on nothing but your own hang-ups.
Gamesman wrote:
What if everyone else is doing this too?
And did you read my reply to PS2kid? If you didn’t, I suggest you do. The complaints attributed to me in the previous strip are falsifications. If you want to find out more, go to the comments section there. I shall discuss the matter no further here.
@ Gamesman:
She said it best. Read her reply about how internet is serious business for her, probably because her real life sucks and this is her happy place where she can play tough girl. Arrrr.
@ PS2kid:
There are a lot of people like that in almost any comment section. Internet badasses. Personnally I usually ignore them but much like when I was the target of bullies I like to interject logic and reason to ruin their day. Life doesn’t grade on a curve. Why should anything else?
@Brijeka Vervix
@PS2kid
Let’s not argue
I like how this is just a comic strip and yet there is a serious scientific discussion concerning the validity of the magnus affect in this senario
@ Brijeka Vervix:
Yikes! now that’s a scary thought.
@ Gamesman:
” Do you question the physics of giant eagles in LOTR or mass distribution in the Hulk? ”
Of course I do; I’m an engineer. I can’t NOT think about these sorts of things. I see a sunset, I reflect upon what it says about the composition of the intervening atmosphere.
You might as well ask a poet not to rhyme.

Shouldn’t the new strip be out now

Guys. Get lost for a while already.
Enjoy the comic strip and start comments about that. Everyone, and I do mean everyone has done so under this strip but you two.

I say it is a good thing Fortuna is not blindfolded or John J. God could go on manipulating fate without her noticing. 🙂
My last posting on the matter.
PS2kid wrote:
You’re basically taking issue that he’s getting oversensitive over a free comic book, while coming off as being oversensitive over a free comment section post.
Just curious if the double standard is unintentional or you’re going for irony.
I’m not even bothered by your post towards Brijeka or anything, I’m just scratching my head at why people display sensitivity (or at least getting worked up) while decrying others for doing the same. The whole do as I say, not as I do only goes so far before being a copout.
Meant to say comic strip, not comic book.
Oh now I’m being accused as bully. Now you’re playing victim and it attract other SJWs to help. Whatever. Comment section is always a very toxic environment everywhere.
@ PS2kid:
Look, I don’t want to fight and I’m sure none else wants to either so consider the following: You stop harassing me over the previous and instead think of something worthwhile to say about the current strip. In return, I won’t call you a bully. Deal?
@Novil
Shouldn’t the new strip be out now?
Yeah, I thought there’d be a new one by now.
This, in the comments section reminds me of mind games (my knowledge of psychology is very limited though, so excuse me if I use the wrong word).
The basis here is that one is certain of his empression about the others feelings and unsaid thoughts, while having some ingrained responses to that. And then going on to defend his position if the other reacts. And this repeats (usually both ways) in a vortex going down, down, down.
This game cost the peace of the previous strip and then of it’s comment section. Could we stop it here and learn the lesson for our actual life as well?
And also, I anxiously await the next strip. 🙂
@ Brett Bellmore:
If you read my comment I also question such things. There were giant flying animals in Earth’s history. So that at least might be plausible. Quetzalcoatlus or Arambougiania both over 30 m. But that happens after you enjoy the story. Which is my real point. Yes they are STORIES which can inspire or amuse but no less stories and exist outside reality. To insert your own narrative regardless of the author’s wishes or world-building is like slapping a smiley face sticker on a classic oil painting. You want a different story WRITE it yourself. Be inspired.
@ Brijeka Vervix:
Nope wrong again. Nowhere did I say bully or accuse you of bullying. You do seem to have your feelings hurt about a very small issue and are flailing about at anyone who questions your outrage. You do realize people pay good money to get their names mentioned in other web comics? My real name is a pretty common one so it shows up now and again yet I don’t sue people or make a big deal out of it because there are lots of people with my name. My point is you are making a mountain out of a mole-hill here. And you are using your outrage like a weapon against any who disagree. Is it just for the attention or what? What do you hope to accomplish? Seriously I want to know. What do you want? Can you give me a straight answer?
Gamesman wrote:
Sure I can. But why should I when I have already given about a dozen? You know it’s just going to be a rehash of what I’ve said before. Well, you know what, maybe I will give you one on the condition that it puts a stop to this ridiculous charade and you and anyone else who feels like harassing me ceases to do so. The following is all 100% truthful:
So, as you know the current arc was getting long and I felt that some of the jokes weren’t the best, or rather the strip was being squeezed of every last bit of juice and so on. I noted this a couple of times and also that I felt the sex appeal of the bikinis was being used to keep it going. I did not say that cute girls in bikinis were gross.
Now Novil, for whatever reason, decides to include my name and several others who shared my train of thought in the infamous strip 1017. He does not ask for my permission to use my name and attributes a blatant falsification to it. This is in disregard to what I maintain on my site and further, Novil’s copyright includes that anything in his comic becomes his. Of course, this could be applied to the name of my OC.
I cannot have my OC copyrighted by someone else (obviously it could pose legal complications for me in the future) so I scramble all bases for a counter attack to protect my content and to defend my name from the false complaints attributed to me.
After the harsh backlash, Novil decides to scramble my name. Although I am still displeased, another reader assures me that this will at least prevent copyright infringement. I realise that this will probably be the best case scenario so I drop the matter.
I had hoped that it would end there however other readers such as yourself and PS2kid, who either don’t know what happened or don’t want to believe the truth insist on harassing me over the matter further rather than being sensible and letting it drop. From there I hope against hope that Novil might listen to my full request to completely remove my name from strip 1017 in the vain hope that it might end further comments like yours although I am now resigned to the fact that pigs will fly before either occur.
In summary and short answers to your questions:
“Is it just for the attention or what?”
I don’t want the attention but if I don’t stand up for myself then no one will. And when you say that people pay to have their names in webcomics, do they pay to have themselves viciously slandered and mocked as well? I don’t think so.
“What do you hope to accomplish?”
An end to harassment from people like you and PS2kid.
“What do you want?”
See above.
“Can you give me a straight answer?”
I just did. Whether you chose to accept it or not, I do not know.
When PS2kid says I take the internet seriously. I suppose he is technically right although he is wrong to berate it. There are some things on the internet that should definitely be taken seriously and anything involving the hint of a shadow of a legal complication is one of them. And just because some people don’t take these things seriously because they think that just because it’s on a screen means it can’t hurt people, doesn’t make it right.
Please read and understand everything I have written fully. I expect this issue to end with this post and I do not want any further hostilities. I do not want nor need you to tell me if any of my actions were in the wrong. I can work that out myself.
Also, in a change of topic, can you explain why you’re lambasting people for discussing the prospects of modelling Zoey’s peculiar ball bounce and believing that we don’t enjoy it (the comic)? It’s inherently pointless, no? (And you’ll find we actually do enjoy the comic on the whole. Otherwise we wouldn’t be here! 😀 )
Okay, I want to just walk away from all of this but I have to clarify few things.
First of all, when I say things like “Internet serious business” I actually expect some reply in form of another joke comments like what I usually did in place like 9gag or something. I was surprised when you actually confirm that for you yes internet is serious business. I found it ridiculous and makes me think that oh wow this is a person who doesn’t have a real life and spend his day on internet, thus she take everything in the internet seriously.
BUT THEN! I decided to do some searching, and I found out that you are a Deviantart artist. NOW EVERYTHING MAKE SENSE why name and copyright is very important for you, and why internet is serious business for you.
So yeah okay, I admit it. I was too quick in judging a person, and I apologize if anything that I said offends you so much. Usually this does not happen in other sites like 9gag or other joke site. But now I learned that not everyone is like that. So yeah, once again I’m sorry for that.
However I do think that had you said the reason copyright and name is important to you is because you’re a Deviantart artist, this whole thing could probably be avoided. But now it’s not important anymore.
I do still think that you need to loosen up a little bit, though. But whatever, I don’t want to dig another hole. To each his/her own I guess.
That’s it, I’m done.

When did I lambaste anyone for the ball bounce? Sorry you are wrong again. Don’t you get tired of being wrong? Also you seem to think the bikinis were some added feature when they it all started at a pool with everyone wearing the same they are now, swimsuits which you would see in any local public pool in the US. Hell I’ve seen toddlers wearing them. So he properly included you in the complainers. Thus again you are wrong in claiming he lampooned you for no reason. Whatever your “reasoning” behind the complaint you did complain. Personally I think you have issues with the swimsuits that are far more personal than you’d like us to know. As I said before it is his comic not yours. If you don’t like it vote with you feet and go away. BTW you keep saying you don’t want to talk about this but you seem to need to get in the last word. Kinda hypocritical isn’t that? Sorry but your outrage doesn’t pass the sniff test. I smell BS.
@Novil
When’s the next strip out?
BTW no one caught it but I made a slight error on the size of those pteradons it should have read feet not meters. Still a flying predator over 30 feet is a prime example of what nature can do given a billion years to play with. Who knows maybe on a similar world out there 10+ meter Eagles (or something much like them) might exist and the humanoids living there have pointy ears?
I once saw a tall, blond girl working as a bank teller who, I swear, had pointy ears. I wondered about that for a week afterwards.
@Novi
When’s the next strip? Are you okay your not answering?
@ Dawhale:
I’m guessing tomorrow or his time zone’s tomorrow.
Am I good or what? LOL
@ PS2kid:
Thank you
@ Gamesman:
I take it you didn’t read anything that I wrote. You might think you’re being logical and smart but to me you honestly look like you’re sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting ‘LA-LA-LA-LA!’ while I try to explain myself.
@ Amos:
One of the plot devices of Escaflowne was the Fate Alteration Engine (I think that’s what it was called) which was built by the main villain and was intended to grant everyone’s wishes. Everyone’s. Of course, he totally neglected the fact that many people’s wishes would conflict with each other.
