Good to see Landon and Larissa are still going. I’d hate to see what Larissa did if something happened.
Also, I’m just waiting for one of those kits to talk and expose the Secret of Woo.
Aww, Novil, you’re making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Man, Lily has become awfully trusting.
Also: it’s all fun and games until somebody poops.
Lily knows a meal ticket when she sees it.
What a change! IIRC, last time Lily was seen at Sandra’s home, she was terribly afraid of humans.

I think Lily just wanted to get some pettings out of the deal ^.^
Really, what makes a party good is sharing it with your friends.

Now excuse me as I go pretend to vomit in that nonexistent sink over there.
@ Grijan:
Our cat was the same way, but animals tend to warm up quickly once they realize you’re not going to maim or murder them.
Not what I’d been anticipating. I like it, but am still expecting things to go south at some point. “Rule of Funny”.
Meanwhile, we know Woo has been vaccinated. How about the rest of his family? I’d be hesitant to cuddle wild animals no matter how cute & friendly they were..
I see Larissa is using her demonic Succubus powers to somehow stand at a 45 degree angle. Keep up the practice!
@ Edda:
Party pooper.

Not quite, she’s just standing in a lunge position while leaning forward. You can see her other leg behind Landon.
@ Dina Kitty:
Standing like Larisa is easy. Holding up a 13-year-old boy like that, now that’s hard. He has to weigh about 100 lbs.
I think that leg behind him is just another limb for gathering him in and keeping him from getting away. I have had ‘three wrap’ hugs on occasion, myself . . . not that I ever wanted to get away!
@ athroughzdude:
I think Larisa has already hung out with the kits a couple times. If one of them had inherited Woo’s “gift”, I almost expcet that she would’ve found out already.
@ Dina Kitty:
You may be right.
But I think that a caring father (Woo is not the “typical” raccoon dad. Remember, the females usually drive away the sire.) would try to make sure his family was protected. Raccoon rabies spreads easily and is always fatal.
Sandra could hardly walk into a vet’s office with a gaggle of unlicensed raccoons marching behind her. There are oral vaccines which can be hidden in food and left in the wild, but they’re much harder to get ahold of.
On the other hand, if they could obtain a vial of the injectable form, Larisa has access to needles and is an expert at using them.
Lilly has come a long way from being completely afraid of humans, and extremely overprotective of her kits. Guess she has come to trust Sandra unconditionally since she helped Woo save her life. Also, she know that anyone who harms her kits will be smote by the Raccoon Goddess.
I now forecast Richard staggering in through the door, not noticing a blessed thing, and falling asleep before his head hits a pillow. Any pillow. Getting to a bedroom is optional …
(I’m pretty sure Richard has the sense to hire a taxi rather than to drive home himself when that tired. The taxi driver would have to wake him up …)
Given Lily’s feelings about Humans, I seriously doubt that would’ve happened, even if Woo vouched for them.
I feel like this is just a timeline of one party
Landon certainly doesn’t seem to mind. Hopefully Cloud gets the same treatment from Sandra later…
I saw that! Landon, watch where your hands go(In the better party). TBH, though, I think Larisa would like that.
Now that is a truly unforgettable party!
So, is Theo a 9th wheel? Or does he have a girl friend hiding somewhere in this party?
@ Edda:
Anyone know if rabies is present in the raccoon population in Germany? No rabies here in Oz, fortunately, not sure I’d be keen on meeting a rabid kangaroo….
As others have already stated, I’m surprised at how far Lily has come in regards to humans. Maybe it’s the power of the pettings?
Yeap, Lily has joined the “belly/head scritches are awesome” club.
Also @Fots, “inherited Woo’s gift”. Isn’t it *all* animals who can speak human languages? I presume they just pretend not to, when there are humans around.
I’m sure there are some bears in Siberia who communicate in plain Russian, too. Or cheetahs who talk to each other (maybe even chat up their prey) in Swahili.

It helps that she has a goddess on her side.
@ rileymike:
This is Larisa we’re talking about.
If Landon doesn’t do it, there’s a good chance she will guide his hands.
Good to see Landon & Larisa are still going strong.
Lily seems to trust THESE humans, and would warn them if there was something wrong.
@ Ephesus:
I think there have been strips before with animals talking around humans and nothing has been said/mentioned, but I can’t remember for sure. Can’t go archive diving to verify. It’s in my head for some reason that it’s only Woo, though. *shrug*
@ Ephesus:
Cats can talk, but they hide it. A classic gray tabby once blew his cover and spoke to me in English.
He was making a lot of noise in the back room off the kitchen. I went in there and said, “Whaddya want, Henry?”
He looked right at me and very clearly said, “Out.”
Stood there stunned for a second, and then opened the door for him. 🙂
@ Drumstep:
Ah. Still, she’s holding up Landon as well….
I would transpose panels 2 and 3.
@ myth buster:
it’s called a dip. Have you never seen anyone dance before?
Funny, but since none of these scenes match what we’ve seen of the party so far, I wonder if all of these are just ideas, but not what happened? I.e., introducing the kits to the party may not have gone like this. (I hope not. I’d rather think that all three of these scenes are actually from the party.)
In expectation vs reality, we’re given visual clues that one happened and the other did not, most notably in the clothing change of all the characters. In this one, everyone still has the same clothing (save for Cloud’s formerly gray shirt) as they did in the final panel of ‘Run of the house’. So that makes it somewhat more likely that all three panels happened.
Raccoons make the best parties. This is why we need more coons
@ Ephesus:
In the context of this comic, it seems that the animals have their own ‘tongue’ in which they speak, that humans only hear in the usual animal noises, if at all. When animals are speaking while humans are present, their speech is enclosed in ” to denote that they are speaking a different language which is translated for reader convenience.
It is only Woo who can speak ‘human’. Just why this is has never been touched upon, but I always just assumed that the raccoon goddess had something to do with it.
Hell no, videogames are the best party.

Note that Lily is with Sandra and Larisa (Of whom she has already allowed to be near her while in the forest) She also has the Goddess’s promise to drop wrath on anyone who would harm her Kits. Its also been quite some time since the last time she was seen in Sandra’s room, she’s likely adjusted to her by now.
Also Free food.
I’m getting such a warm, fuzzy feeling from seeing Lily look so content and trusting around humans!
And the kits are so cute!!!
Wow! Woo and Lily had four kits? For some reason, I thought they had three. Just goes to show how long it’s been since I read that arc.
@ Mortar:
Well, Lily does know Sandra and trusts her. After all, if I recall correctly, this isn’t the first time Sandra has handled Lily’s kits and, of course, Woo is there to help protect them.
I’m surprised that Larissa is so warm and fuzzy with the kits. For some reason I can’t imagine her getting affectionate with anything but a human male, especially Landon. Good to see her secubus-ness isn’t overwhelming . . . yet.
The REAL meaning of this strip is obvious. The good party is focused on three boys, the better party is equally focused on boys and girls, the best party has more girls than boys. Girls > boys. Duh.
i’m all caught up…. NOOOO

Yeah, welcome to the club. It’s a different experience when you get only2 strips a week,
instead of many per day.
Newbies should be warned not to read more than one strip a day to prolong the experience.

Might I recommend Scurry and Oren’s Forge for your next reading session…
Um. Is the new strip late? Or am I early?
