The new strip comes a few hours late because I rewrote the whole dialog this morning since I wasn’t completely happy with the first version.
- Michelle: Did you play tennis with Julia yesterday?
- Zoey: Nah, it–
- Gilligan: Hello! I’m Gilligan! I’m sure most of you are just as upset as me that Zoey still doesn’t have a girlfriend despite being such an adorable cutie pie.
- Gilligan: Zoey’s into sporty, tall girls with dark hair. I’m sure you all see how Julia would be a perfect fit for her. So let’s all work together to make this ship happen!
- Zoey: AAAAAAAAAA
- Gilligan: Just imagine how happy Zoey would be if she could give Julia a long, sloppy kiss and– Hey, back off…! Krrr

So everybody in school probably knows who Zoey is, due to the class president ad campaign. Since Julia is a new character, she might be able to escape this until it’s forgotten. It’s too bad that Gill blew the Zoey-Julia relationship, Zoey could use her help in administering the beatdown.

I’m all in favor of shipping, but Gilligan is sinking his ship by being too overzealous about it.
I am honestly unsettled by this character (and it takes quite a bit to make me feel unsettled)
I love the comic but I can’t find this funny. The idiot just outed her to the world. Acts like this have brought on depression, anxiety and even suicide. I had next to no high school life due to bullying (if you can call getting jumped by 5-6 guys “bullying” ) and being ridiculed. It can’t have gotten any easier with rumors being near instantaneous these days.
Sorry guys, this is painful to watch.
Has Zoey just been outed to the entire school? Y i k e s. That Gilligan guy better start running, because Zoey will not leave a corpse behind.

Now that I think about it, since when is Zoey into dark hair? I mean, she’s into Michelle, and she has very bright hair. Either Gilligan needs to recheck his sources, or this is quite inconsistent.
Dude… you just broke like a MAJOR rule. You never out someone else. Unless it was already known she was a lesbian. Can anyone get confirmation on that?

Hopefully, in the next few comics when Zoey is freaking out about being outed everyone else reassures her by letting her know they already knew or suspected as much with a few outliers to be realistic. Hopefully the people whose opinions she cares about are supportive and everyelse that acts like a turd gets told to go flush themselves.
I’m unsure of wether or not this strip is supposed to be funny. The situation is dangerous for Zoey, but the title kind of makes light of it.
Anyway, the police, parents and the whole cavalry needs to be involved. Gilligan has to be forcibly removed from Zoey and Zoey herself should consider not walking home alone for a while.
Sounds like someone found him. Maybe Julia is a secret ninja and taking care of business herself?

Whether or not this strip is supposed to be funny will probably only be known once the story arc is resolved. I still suspect that this might be a non-canon “don’t bother me with shipping suggestions” story with either a mean or a funny resolution (or a bit of both, maybe some violence). However, even as a canon arc, this could go in several directions (funny, scary, sincere, sad, heartwarming) which could retrospectively make this strip funny or very much not.
For one thing, Gilligan has no business on the school intercom and will catch seven sorts of Hell for using it. Once the ‘official’ reprimand is complete, then the Karma can catch up with him and given the load of Big Bad he’s accumulated with this stunt, it should be spectacular. Even Ruth will be appalled.

Hookay. I read this comic merely for pastime purposes. But in this strip I fail to see the humor. We are passed a restraining order and straight up to a mental asylum and professional treatment.
Well, that’s one way to get outed.
Though I guess, she could just say he’s loony, and wants to get her together with a girl.

But it’s a jump to conclusion saying he knows about Zoey’s sexuality. Shippers can’t care less about their target’s sexuality. They’re kinda stupid that way.
