- Reporter: Welcome to the deciding match of this year’s junior chess tournament. The match will be between Logan Hunter and Yuna Williams. Logan has six wins and one draw. Yuna has won all seven games. That means she’ll only need a draw to win.
- Reporter: Logan, how did you prepare for the tournament?
- Logan: I played hundreds of games on lichess.org. And I studied all the legends, Fischer, Kasparov, Carlsen…
- Reporter: Fantastic!
- Reporter: And you, Yuna?
- Yuna: I looked up how the pony moves.
- Reporter: Knight.
- Yuna: Whatever.
- Camerawoman: You’re in big trouble.
- Logan: I know!
@ Gamesman:
Yes, I believe there may be more than one trope for this. Primary, you can learn more about it by the term given by the authority of tropes: “What the Fu are you doing?” Here’s the link:

Was trying to find the strip to prove Yuna will be unmatched…but can’t find it.
It was David and Yuna playing chess. David’s thinking was simple, while Yuna’s was VERY complex.

The topic isn’t Yuna. It’s chess. It’s one big chess joke.

@ VVIZRRD:
He could also go to peanuts and complain about Charlie being depressed.
@ David C:
Thank you<3
Long ago, I read the novel “schachnovelle” (translated into English as “The Royal Game”), a novel by the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig, written in 1941.
Two interesting characters: world chess champion Mirko Czenotovic (according to name, could be Croat or Serb), who broke through as a natural talent. He is almost illiterate, slow and dull in everything but chess.
The other, Dr. B, Austrian who opposed Nazi “Anschluss” in 1938. He spent several years in solitary confinement, in complete isolation. He had one chess book and played games all the time and solved problems in his head.
Thus, he became capable of defeating the world champion. But in the second game he suffered a mental breakdown and could not continue.

@ Gilly:
No, there was no reporter named. Logan Hunter is Yuna’s opponent, and besides the 2 names only one more tag is there: ‘chess’.
