- Sandra: That’s Novil. He signed and stamped 1000–
- Novil: 1055!
- Sandra: –books today.
- Sandra: Now don’t be a slacker! There are 3600 more books waiting for you this week!
- Novil: If I could lift my arm, I’d whack you so bad!
- Sandra: You wouldn’t hit a girl, would you?!
- Novil: I yearn for true gender equality!
- Sandra: So that’s why you let your female assistant do all the heavy lifting?
- Novil: In the next story arc, you’re going to suffer!
Kazuma would be proud of you, Novil.
So Sandra Strickland?
I see, you are a man of culture as well
I don’t know, Novil, from the expression on her face, antagonizing your prime character might not be a good idea.
These hands are rated E for everyone!
I always knew Novil was a man of culture!
Sandra be careful a whack is old British schoolboy slang for a stroke of the cane. so doesn’t techically count under the ‘hit a girl’ restrictions

I came here to say this. Good work saying it before me!
What a slacker!
Good work, Novil. You’re working like a true writer.
Careful, Sandra, he’s still 75% functional, and sounds annoyed enough to toss you into a mud pit of piranha-mosquitos for Woo to Indiana Jones save.
St Patrick’s Day tomorrow and April fool’s day coming. What you do with this information is up to you.
Silly Novil, you need not lift an arm to whack Sandra, you just write it into your next script! That said, I’m not sure Sandra deserves to get smacked, but it would be entertaining nonetheless.
I’d warn against jokes about true gender equality including the right to hit girls, but at this point Novil probably won’t die a natural death anyway.
@ Boulder:
Hahahaha i was about to write that exact comment xD
whats the name of the font used in the comic?

Yes it does, just the same as hitting someone while wearing gloves is still hitting them.

True gender equality would mean having the same right to hit girls as to hit boys – which is none, except by consent or in self-defence.

Since you’re STILL here after multiple pages of trolling, I’m going to try an explanation.
This is multiple levels of meta, and most of the audience knows.
KonoSuba, the reference here, is itself a meta parody about anime/manga tropes.
There is an anime trope where a guy would accidentally infringe on a girl’s or woman’s personal space or privacy, and she retaliates excessively violently. This trope is completely stereotyped by gender.
It is not something real Japanese women do. It’s a cheap and overused trope, and KonoSuba rubs that in peoples’ faces by having the protagonist express violent threats toward females by referencing “gender equality”, saying things like “drop-kick in the ovaries”, which causes cognitive dissonance because of the extreme depicted gender imbalance concerning such violence in media.
With the whole strip being meta as well, none of it is meaningful if taken literally. The strip is mixing a blog-like update with meta-banter. Sandra and Novil don’t even exist in the same reality. And the idea that Novil is promoting hitting girls who say things he doesn’t like is just… let’s call it media smearmonger level of strawmaning.
Readers here know and get this stuff. Except some who are trapped in a US-based cultural mindset, whom Novil is constantly making fun of, but they don’t get it no matter how hard he does it, causing some mild additional amusement of readers.
@ Vandroiy:
THIS!
Felt I needed to say that as an immigrant transwoman living in the US.
There are so many times where I have to reread the comic to figure out why people are complaining about some group or other being offended, including my own.
Sometimes you just want to say: “Learn2banter, people.”
@ Nikary Flare:
lol imagine to be offended over a comic this much that you wish the author to get murdered. Oh, hypocrisy, sweet, sweet hypocrisy!

And the fourth wall goes bang! (again 😛 ).

Woo, wouldn’t that, between the protagoness and the decidedly fictional icon of the author, be something like the seventh or eleventh wall, or whatever? :o)

“Don’t make me use my ring hand, Sandra…”
It is time to Sandra go on a “safari hat adventure” 🙂
Oh Sandra is going to suffer in the next arc what ya going to do put her dad into a coma and have Sandy shuffled into the foster system in another city only to wind up in a mental care facilty under a different name?
I’ve been reading this comic for so many years. It’s breaking my heart to see this.
@ Tina:
Well stop reading it and boring us with your complaints. Bye!
You shouldn’t bite the hand that draws you, Sandy, especially when said hand is exhausted. So don’t be surprised to find yourself on stage wearing only your parties while in front of an audience. Or worse, there’s a ton of punishments worse than public humiliation/nudity/partial nudity…
