  1. Congratulations!

  2. Congratulations on the new human resource! Thank you for doing your part to ensure the survival of our species. In all seriousness, parenting is both the hardest and most rewarding job any of us can take on. I hope the little one sleeps and grows and is an angel for you.

    1. “Sleeps” can’t be overestimated here. May you be blessed with a little one who figures that out quickly. One way or the other, congratulations!

  3. BlackDragonSlayer

Love the announcement. Best of luck Elli!!

  4. Best wishes to Elli and her new & improved family! I’l very much look forward to the return of the story when she’s ready.

  5. Eli seems to have been drawing very well for a pregnant woman. (That’s admitting the irritations involved with carrying a baby.) Congratulations! It looks like Scarlet’s on hiatus for a few weeks.
Scarlet’s going to have to cool her heels and dream of unearthing giant Voltron mecha in the distant future. We don’t know what “Starfire” could have been- a gun, artillery, a mecha suit, or an orbital weapons platform. Magical wands would be fantasy.

    1. Tbh “Starfire” sounds like a killsat network. This way it can be huge but invisible to the people on Lavarel. Were it to be used, it probably would’ve packed similar shock value to the atomic bombings at the end of WW2. Hence the predicted decisive victory.
If that’s the case, then Scarlet should be looking not for the weapon itself, but the control centre and access codes.

      1. I’m guessing that Scarlet already found Starfire and wears it on her belt. She has fired it a few times. Just remembering Chekhov’s gun.

        1. Agreed. No pictures, Scarlet saying it must be huge, etc., All to make us look over there instead of over here. Of course that could be the whole idea and that really is just a peashooter she’s got 😉 TIme will tell.

  6. He/she will he a fortunate baby, to have such an artist as mom. Best wishes!

  7. Dex, Int and Cha. So, new Bard perhaps? Nice addition to the party, congrats!

    1. Oh, and enjoy the break while you are with the expanding family!

  8. Congratulations! Best wishes to both mother and child!
I know Scarlet seems confident about high Int, Dex, and Cha; but personally I hope that the new little one has amazing Con and Wis as well. Can never have too much physical and mental resilience these days (or ever, really…)

I’ll miss getting a couple of new Scarlet panels each week, but it’s in a good cause. I’m sure Scarlet can cool her heels for a month or two.
Personally, I’m guessing that the mysterious Starfire is her shiny special gun.. I suspect there’s a lot more to it than just some nifty ammo switching…

    1. Ooh, that’s a good theory! I hadn’t thought of that! The ultimate superweapon being no bigger than a common handgun…talk about hiding in plain sight!

    2. Nah, that’s too easy. She “just happens” to find it in some cache somewhere? And to have already found it? Where is the workshop, the blueprints, the cabinets of research papers, the secret military laboratory in the mountains surrounded by chain-link fences, etc? And that the secret weapon is some little pistol? Where’s the science-fiction in that? Novil should go think up something that’ll make the laws of reality feel nervous.

  9. Congrats, Elli!

  10. I suspect Scarlet may already have seen something that looks like a Starfire machine, and it looks like this:

    I repeat: congratulations, Elli!

  11. Enjoy the roller-coaster ride coming your way. It really is worth it, when the kid turns 21.

  12. Congratulations; Elli!
May your baby‘s checks always succeed!

  13. Congratulations!

  14. Congratulations 🎉

  15. Congratulations for the baby!

  16. Technically a thermonuclear bomb is over 80% starfire by yield.

  17. Congratulations on the new one! I pray for the health and well being of both mother and child! =^^=

  18. Congrats on the little one! 🙂
Though i dont know what to predict over Starfire, i do hope she’ll find her own ancient gun in this book as well

    1. For all we know her ancient gun is the Starfire weapon.

  19. Congratulations Elli!
I wish you the best, and hope that everything will be fine for you and the baby. Take the time you need to recover and meet this new little human!

I love the way that you portrayed Scarlet doing the announcement. <3

  20. Congatulations. good health for all of you.

  21. Congratulations and welcome to parenthood, may your baby be healthy and sleep soundly every night.

  22. Wooooooo! … *Aehem* congrats 🎉

  23. Congratulations for the baby!

  24. Wish all the best to you and your baby, Elli! 🥰

  25. Congrats on the kid!

As for the comic and “Starfire”, based on the description, I feel like Scarlet may want to reconsider finding and using it. Likely it’d be destructive on an atomic bomb scale and would result in the deaths of *a lot* of innocents. I doubt she’d want that on her conscious.

    1. First, congrats on the kid! Also, yes, this is the right way to combat demographics crisis.

Now back to the post I’m replying to … Scarlet is quite hardened and I don’t think she consider Grondar’s civilians innocent.

And yes, starfire can easily be nuclear or thermonuclear weapon. Unfortunately, those would likely make the climate on Lavarel even WORSE.

      1. Maybe, maybe not. It would definitely be warmer, at least to start with.

        And congratulations Elli.

        1. Eh, no. A thermonuclear war triggers a nuclear winter. The Chicxulub impact triggered a global winter (a micro-ice age, actually). Any extensive destruction injecting massive clouds of dust, ashes and smoke blocks sunlight, increases albedo and makes temperatures go down globally, and it could be of impredictable duration, since if frosten surface increases dramatically you will have a feedback global winter which could end in a snowball planet.

        2. Actually replying to Poyntre:
We’ve actually had a nuclear war (2 bombs), and many tests, and we’re still here.
Yes, the scenario of two or more nuclear powers bombarding each other with hundreds of nuclear explosions may well trigger a nuclear winter, but before the winter kicks in, it will get very hot, at least for a short while.
This Starfire weapon was intended to demonstrate overwhelming superiority against an enemy with no equivalent weapon.

        3. Two bombs is not a war. A thousand nuclear tests, many of them underground, during 60 years, is not a war. Dropping two bombs was totally unnecessary from a military point of view, they were dropped because of political calculus. They dropped two because they only had two. And, in fact, it was no hot at all. The EM shockwave and the atmospherical blast is plasma in the near explosion, during expansion it cools as expected, the nuclear fungus ascends of course because it is less dense than air, the fires after the bombing sure are hot, and the black rain after them not that hot. What you have in the end in energy released through many forms, ultimately the most of them makes a mechanical work and the degradated hot at the end does not high the temperature in a significant way, since most of the mechanical work goes very high to the atmosphere (and then back to the ground), most is irradiated to space, not to the lower layers of the atmosphere which, in fact, can down its temperature. If you are telling me that for fractions of second you are being destroyed by a shockwave with a temperature which is an academical definition, you are right, but at the end of the day you are going to get hotter, but colder. You can think on a volcano if you prefer, the eruption of an Icelandic volcano triggered the French Revolution because of the global mini-ice age it delivered, of course in the neighborhood of the volcano the temperature was pretty hot for a while, weeks at most, in the next ten years or so the Northern Hemisphere experimented a wild drop of temperatures and the worst harvests in many, many time, with famines and… revolutions. A single volcano.

  26. Congratulations!!!
    We’re going to wait patiently.

  27. Congrats, Elli! May your child be much healthier than I was and your delivery smooth and as easy as reasonably possible!

  28. Congratulations!
I hope your child is as smart as Scarlet but a lot less trouble. Well, maybe.

  29. The scientific term for that stat combination is “Totes Adorbs”.

  30. Good news: Elli and her little girl are doing well!

    1. This is great to hear. Thanks, Novil!

  31. Aww, but you just know once she comes back it’ll take forever to drop the extra line weight.

  32. Congratulations Elli! Children are the most wonderful creatures on earth. They are the innocents and will bring much joy to your life. (just not much sleep) 🙂

  33. Congratulations Elli!!! Take as much time as you need!!! We will miss you and hope for your return, but I think most of us will be fine with you taking care of all that you need to before worrying about us!!!!

  34. Wooo! Congratulations, Ellie.

  35. Being well down on the list, it’s been said several times already, but, congratulations! We hope for all to go well, and the delay in comics is a small price to pay. Certainly, smaller than the sleep Elli’ll lose over the next few months! Be well!

  36. One of two things. Nuke or satellites. Likely the former.

  37. Congratulations on the delivery! More babies means more fun (especially after they start sleeping regularly)!

  38. Looking at my two and all my friend’s, babies may be born with high DEX, but it takes them a little while to make the best out of it. On the one hand it’s pretty much impossible to fall off of a carpet, but babies don’t learn this during the first year.

Everyone says ‘congratulations’ on having a baby, what did they think you were having ? a toaster ? but hopefully congratulations are in order on good health and curiousity, two of the best things anyone can have. 🙂

If this is your first, prepare to find out that everything everyone told you about babies was wrong. if it isn’t, then you already know that, but the second one isn’t like the first either, it’s like they know…..

  39. Congratulations from the bottom of my heart! I hope you’ll give birth to a healthy child and that there will be no complications. Best of luck and lots of love from a man who just became a father 11 weeks ago. <3

  40. Congrats to Elli!!

  41. Congratulations, Elli. May you both be healthy and happy!

  42. Ilium is another name for Troy and Helios was the Greek Sun god

  43. Elli and her daughter are at home and it hopefully shouldn’t take long until Elli will be able to draw again.

    1. It is lovely news that they’re at home! 🙂

    2. So happy to hear she delivered a healthy baby girl! Wishing her a speedy recovery! ❤️

  44. Congratulations and welcome to the new little one!
Take good care of yourself, Elli (and that goes for Novil, too)

  45. it’s the gun she already found, duh

  46. Gratz to Elli, I wish you and your new one a healthy and safe delivery.

  47. Welcome to the world, Baby. Congratulations Elli and family
