  1. I don’t know if I would stand on the artifact of unknown purpose.

  2. BlackDragonSlayer

I love how standing around listening to Scarlet ramble has become a regular source of entertainment for these town folk 😛

    1. Humble beginnings.
Soon enough she’ll have her own conspiracy talk show with guest commentators Vidal and Xaver as a foil.
“From the High Kirkiok Market and the Great Lavarel Southwest, I bid you all good morning, good evening, whatever time it may be where you are! this is Market Stall to Market stall AM with Scarlett Carolus”

  3. Welcome back! Hope Elli and her baby are doing well, and that the baby has the expected high DEX, INT and CHA stats!

As for today’s strip, it’s possible that Abel’s daughter is simply ghostwriting as him. (Though I can’t imagine why she wouldn’t want to use her own name.)

  4. Yay, Elli has managed to scrape together a new page. Looks good. Best of luck to the little one.
As for Able’s new book, it’s common for a recently deceased author to have a book treatment to five sitting around in his workspace. It could be a posthumous release because the publishing contract was already signed. Half-book ghost writers are a thing, there’s just not a name to put to it. There’s also the name being used as a penname, and various people are brought in to ghost-write under sure-seller name.
Should Scarlet be standing on the cube like that? Is it breakable? What if she accidentally starts a game of tic tac toe?

    1. Most posthumous releases admit to being posthumous instead of using fake foreword to convince people they are not.

      1. Life Lesson #? “It doesn’t matter if you’re lying, as long as you’re making money off of it.”

    2. Tic-Tac-Toe? You know I immediately thought of that old wargames movie when I read that. Let’s hope the cube does not know about Global Thermonuclear War. Now what was the name of the weapon mentioned on the last page?…

    3. Standing on the cube of tic-tac TOE. You take too long, you lose a toe.
      (Sorry, not sorry.)

  5. Welcome back, Elli! I wish you and your little girl all the best! 🥰
It’s autumn. Fortunately, there seems to be enough food.
The announcement of the quest for Abel is a welcome turn of events, with a new, more concrete goal.
A long time ago, when Scarlet was 6-7 years old, someone replied to her letter: “Abel Axios’ current whereabouts are unknown to us” (SFOS #19). There really is some secret there! 🤔
The woman with long blond hair also listened to Scarlet in her first appearance (pages MG011-013). As well as the vegetable seller, who only got a name here – Xaver or Vidal, we don’t know which is which. 😋 In the end, maybe he will help her!
I hope that Baako, Iona and Vreni still support Scarlet, as friends. They could help her in her further quest.

    1. Oh, he is Xaver. I overlooked that he called another man “Vidal”!

      1. Now I see that Vidal is also a merchant. He was on boards #012-013. Maybe he’s a blacksmith – he sells various tools.

      2. We now know the tool merchant is Vidal, but we don’t know who is Xaver (could just as well be the fox person). The first encounter with merchants isn’t tagged with any of these names. Also, it’s curious that MG-014 is tagged with “Cyril” (could be the cop who never makes another appearance so far).

  6. I’m not sure if a young person being “off her rocker” makes sense etymologically; if the term comes from people sitting in rocking chairs (or, in “off her trolley”, using mobility assistance), accusing someone of having left that seems to be pointless towards someone who never used one. But I wasn’t able to find support for this theory anywhere on the Internet yet.

    1. It’s just a figure of speech. Most of them don’t make sense if you take them literally. Novil is using it quite accurately here. At best it’s a bit outdated as an English idiom but it’s not misused or confusing.

Like when Germans say, “Da haben wir den Salat”, meaning something like the English “Now we’re in a pickle”, no one sensible thinks either phrase actually refers to food.

    2. As ME said, they’re idioms, but ‘rocker’ could refer to a child’s rocking toy, or even cradle. Trolley means a vehicle with small wheels, like a supermarket trolley, or a wheeled platform for moving items. On a trolleybus, the small wheels are on the poles connecting to the overhead power lines.

      1. Oh, that’s cool! Thanks!

  7. If she’s right about there being a conspiracy going on, she can be in danger herself.

  8. Welcome back! Wow! I was expecting a much longer wait for this new page – Thank you!

  9. Damn Eli! I think we all appreciate the new page, but take a bit of time off to enjoy motherhood, you deserve it.

  10. Wow, that was quick. At least you found some time to yourself…and promptly spent it on us.
With a newborn, any break is precious, even enough time for a quick shower is a gift 🙂

  11. That’s our girl, Scarlet!!

    And Congrats Elli!!!

  12. Great to see Elli’s art, but the subject feels weird to me. It’s as though one or two days’ worth of exposition, to explain how Scarlet got from the top-secret book to the one she’s orating about, are missing. Oh well, progress moves at its own pace.
