Not necessarily and without knowing more, you can’t assume it’s one or the other. It might be a different person she quietly likes. Or simply not be interested in any one and prefers to stay unattached for now. After all, she’s still young and may want to pursue other things for now. Still plenty of time to get attached later.

Also many species can have fertile offspring despite being different species. People put far too much stock in the species barrier. Neanderthals and homo sapiens are different species, but we bred.

Boys that age do crush hard on girls…. It’s just that they are still… literally, boys. Not men. And the girls instinctively know this, and tend to show no Interest in them, all the way up to outright hostility. For very solid biological Reasons.
You’re looking at the 15-16 yr range where all that starts to really kick off, with girls looking at the *older*/more “mature” boys.
And yes, there are exceptions.. Stuff your Modern Gender Theories. It works for roughly 95-98% of kids. As Evolution Intended.
