“Arise” is typically used to formally tell, e.g. a newly minted knight to stand up not merely physically but also take up the just conveyed formal title with all that entails. So “Arise! The formalities can wait!” doesn’t really work. A simple “Stand up.” instead of “Arise!” would be better.
The king looks a bit like Sandril, but older, and better-looking in every way. His list of questions is good too. People probably think The Shadowdancers fortress probably looks like the treasure hold of Smaug. And not just subway tokens.
