A Sky Full of Stars 087

I love how Scarlet turned out in the last panel!

It also reminded me of this meme:

Onirism: Maybe the real treasure was this gun I found along the way

  • Scarlet: An Arcadian armory!?
  • Scarlet: Dang, it’s all rusted.
  • Scarlet: Almost looks like art.
  • Scarlet: Hmm…
  • Scarlet: Wow, that’s a fancy one! I have to show it to Tibor!

  1. Guns are this girl’s best friend.

  2. What could go wrong?!

And I imagine Tibor’s had enough of guns for the moment.

  3. Let’s hope that gun doesn’t expode in her hands the moment it fires.

  4. Fancy water pistol 🙂

  5. You can recognize artifacts easily – they won’t get damaged by time.

    Definitely interesting weapon.

    1. Being in a protective case probably helped

  6. A functioning light switch? How practical.

  7. Ooooh is that the one from the original art?

  8. BlackDragonSlayer

    Definitely looks like a high-rarity weapon 😉

  9. Strange that all those Old Betsy’s would be made out 100% iron. Even wood, copper, and brass, though they’d also weather, would made it through in better condition. “Shouldn’t there be an inch of water on the floor?” “Nope, the guns absorbed it all.” If it’s an armoury, then there’s got to be bullets, power crystals, maps, a few changes of clothes, some canned food that could be used as explosives… Even rusted guns are worth some money as scrap metal. I wonder how old the armoury is? 100 years, or longer? Probably longer, but not much over 200 years. If anything, Scarlet found them a safe place to sleep. But I don’t think the “chemical toilets” should be visited in the night!

    1. We’ve only seen one room, the complex may run deeper. With this being the first room next to the stairs, this is more of a ready room, ready for people to grab weapons and run up the stairs and fight. Bullets and power crystals would probably be stored in a ‘powder room’ with thicker walls in case of an explosion, deeper in.

  10. It’s not that special weapon from the titlepage, so maybe we are not only a few pages before Tibor is killed by Luitpold…
But my hope is slim. Scarlett has had enough character development to make the story going :-(.

    1. Tibor is listed as a main character, so I find it unlikely he will die soon. Novil could be trying to trick us though, but I think Julius is in a greater danger.

      1. On the titlepage, Scarlett looks like about 25 (so about ten years from here?) and has some loner vibes.
Not enough time for Tibor to grow too old to join the action. So I guess he has to die before. And as much as visiting this cellar mirror’s Scarlett visiting that of per parent’s home …

  11. If the rusted weapons are energy weapons, they may still have energy crystals to dig out from the rust.
Anyway, Scarlet is not putting a finger on the trigger, so that’s good.

  12. Prediction attempt: She’ll need the gun before she can show it to Tibor.

  13. It’s not just rust that’s perplexing here; it’s also dust. Why isn’t the case dusty or otherwise dilapidated? Answer: because someone else has opened it recently, for purposes of using the weapon in it. Scarlet really does not want to run into that someone else. Probably.

    1. After, well, the dust has settled, a closed room doesn’t magically generate more of it.

      1. Ever been in a basement that hasn’t been touched for a while?

      2. A little draft goes a long way when it comes to dust. It’s hard to imagine that thiis room would be hermetically sealed so there is no draft. We shall see, but my (nonexisetent) money is on someone noticing that their “secret” weapon isn’t a secret anymore.

  14. I really appreciate Elli’s ability to draw well structured hands in these panels, and in gloves no less. I know it’s harder than it looks.

  15. saving the world with the power of science and this gun I found

  16. Gamma well-oiled

My first thought was, “Don’t touch that! It could be dangerous! Who knows what it does or how such things degrade with age even if they look fine?” I presume that since Scarlet is well-read and isn’t immediately cautious that such things have a better reputation in this world than old weapons and tools have in the real world… perhaps my mindset is influenced by lots of warnings to not touch old dynamite.
