The Machine of Eternal Summer 007

  • Tibor: Have I made myself clear enough?!
  • Tibor: There you go.
  • Tibor: Stay put for ten minutes!
  • Tibor: And don’t try anything funny! My gun has a remarkable range.

  1. Sorry to say this, Tibor, but you are quite likely already dying. The backscatter radiation from this shot – clearly visible at the end of the barrel – would make sure of that.

Also, your beam is very incoherent and clearly spreading out less than two meters of the barrel. And your gun have no sights. It simply can not have any kind of remarkable range.

    1. Nonsense. Any shotgun as well as grapeshot would do the same. It all comes down to the speed the ray-propelled damaging bits are moving at, even if it’s a little spread out. It looks like it ray-guns a nice big hole in someone. And if it didn’t, maybe the beam would leave some very harsh burns. Unless it’s a starter pistol made really showy with the special effects, like fireworks. Or in TMOES planet’s case, firestarting.

      1. It was stated by suthor that this is a plasma weapon – i.e. ion accelerator. Incoherent beam would very quickly got down to non-threatening level due to inverse square law. And this beam is very poorly focused; in fact, it seems to break into three beams. Which means that magnetic lenses are on their last leg, and the next shot could easily deflect back at Tibor (yeah, particle beams have this problem – if magnetic system malfunctioned, they could easily fire backward, or aside, or anywhere else)

        1. It was stated that guns were *magic* plasma weapons. If it’s magic, the rules of physics don’t necessarily apply.

    2. Remember that Tibor is not human. Who knows how resistant to radiation his species is.

But I agree that the gun doesn’t seem to be in good shape.

    3. It’s just possible this ‘weapon’ is just a light show, with the very remarkable effective range of zero metres

  2. Being a highwayman in the middle of nowhere means that by the time an unintentional flare gets acted upon, if seen at all, that Mr Tibbles will be too far away from the area to be directly suspicious. I wonder what the recharge/reload time on that pistol is? It wouldn’t be useful if it was too long.

    1. Well, its stated to be a plasma weapon, so the main limiting factor is the heating of magnets that form the beam. Considering that beam is already incoherent, I would not advise mr. “Hello leukemia” Tibor to shoot till magnets cool down. The next beam could easily got deflected right into his head.

      1. WE don’t have much experience with this kind of weapon, but Gavin would know if it would be one-shot only so Tibor wouldn’t try this stunt in such case.

I wonder if it’s constructed in way that there are multiple sets of magnets, so you can choose multiple shots or one with better range and precision.

        1. One-shot maybe not, but definitely require cooling. In general, it’s not practical to carry energy weapon without the backpack of coolant system. Waste heat is a constant problem, and while vechicle-based energy cannons could allow constant cooling, hand-held energy weapon would be much more problematic.

  3. So, after robbery like this one, will they complain to police and try applying for some sort of insurance, or will they go home and die?

  4. Shooting in the air does not demonstrate that you’re willing to shoot humans, but even so, Gavin may not want to take that risk. Is the money a question of life and death, are the shards actually in the bag? I know one thing though, Tibor will die as soon as he robs the wrong person.

    1. Leukemia would most likely got him first, considering his trait of firing badly focused plasma pistol near his head.

Better watch out for the fox with a gun!!!

  6. How do foxes put on pants? Their tails are a big nuisance.

    1. A zipper at the back?

  7. Next panel, the robber-fox has moved a few hundred metres from his victims. As he opens the bag to see what he stole, and sticks his nose up close, the paint and glitter bomb in there goes off, covering his head and shoulders. What he says next is not appropriate for a little girl to hear.

    1. If only Mark Rober was part of this universe.

  8. *Tibor casted dancing lights*
