The Machine of Eternal Summer 036

  • Scarlet: You robbed us! You’re a rotten robber!
  • Tibor: Yes, and I’m ashamed of it. I came back to ask you for forgiveness.
  • Soldier: Come here, sweetheart.
  • Yerim: So you’re a robber?! What did you rob from that poor girl? Spit it out!
  • Tibor: Shards.
  • Yerim: If you give them back, you’ll probably walk away with your life. So where are they? In Milik?
  • Tibor: No. Marik has them. But he had nothing to do with the robbery.
  • Yerim: All right, then I’ll ask the guard to pay a visit to Marik once things have calmed down around here.
  • Tibor: No!! Anything but that! Anything but that.
  • Tibor: Better shoot me right here and now!

  1. Too scared of a criminal to let the criminal be arrested. Tsk. At least Marik isn’t up for anything more than moneylending, which is all Tibor’s fault. The general, or whatever his rank is, probably some sort of Major, given the frontline outpost, would probably throw Tibor into the front lines, if it wasn’t for military discipline. Tibbles hasn’t even been through a boot camp.
At least Tibor didn’t do anything really bad, like steal Mr Bunny or Elodie.

    1. It would be next to impossible to proof that Marik is involved. All he done is lend money to Tibor, which is presumably legal here. He could perfectly honestly insist that he did not knew how exactly Tibor get money to pay his debt, and that’s not his problem at all. So it would basically be Tibor’s words against Marik words without much proof that any crime even took place at all.

      1. Soooo, you think you know more about their legal system than the general? I mean, what you said would make sense in, say, US or Europe now. But this is different country – one where the general threatens petty thief with death penalty.

      2. Marik said that he doesn’t want any more trouble with them, indicating he has had trouble with them before. Tibor’s case alone wouldn’t do much, but if there is a pattern of people stealing from or robbing people claiming that they paid their dirty money to Marik, that will make things uncomfortable for him. Also, note that this comic does not take place in a developed country in our world.

  2. He just saved the girl’s life at risk to his own. Cut him a break

  3. He was called a general; min formation for one to command is a brigade. which can be as small as 1500 men. I do admit the outpost we saw seems a bit flimsy for a brigade, but some generals like to command from very close to the front. Given the magitek I’ve seen, he’d better have some personal defenses if he wants to make lt gen.

  4. The general may want to start wondering why a robber and one of his victims were running together, especially since the robber confessed when he could have easily denied it. That said, Tibor is hardly impressing the general right now. Also, what was the Grondans plan here?

  5. I like how you’ve used yellow lines and outlines on this page to convey emotion.
