Zoey may have been a nervous wreck but she certainly thought and planned ahead! She’s pulling all the cards and going for the prize!!
So, they’ll just have a nice afternoon.
And maybe tie Larisa to a tree.
Ohh and is it me or does Zoey have her hand casually resting on Sandra’s shoulder??
I gotta say, it’s really sweet how cool people are with Sandra discovering her bisexual side. Everyone has always been pretty cool about people being ‘different’ in Sandra and Woo, but the main character falling head-over-heels for another woman being treated so casually is so sweet. Dunno how it’ll affect her relationship with Cloud, but if nothing else, Zoey’s been wanting a girlfriend for so long now. It’s good to see her get some love.
A good demonstration why I think that Sandra is currently just playing around.
If she were seriously trying to build something, she’d probably not invite Larisa.
She should know her friend well enough to expect something like this.
@ Tony5n:
It’s not just you.
@ Anthony Looyen:
Polyamoria is quite a thing nowdays!
Zoey is like “Aww honey, look at our child playing”
Woo’s back! Woo-hoo!
The writer warned Sandra he was going to mess with her in this arc. Still fun, though!
Well that is adorable .
Oh that’s right, there’s a raccoon in this comic!

Not cool with it really. But web cartoonists are a pretty woke bunch, and displaying this by having a previously straight character discover a non-straight side is practically a trope, so what can you do. In any case, this comic has been flirting with kid sex for a long time, so I’m curious to see how far it’s willing to go.

Guys, you are missing the point:
(1) People are annoyed by politics, not by straight/bisexual relationships. Especially if said politics don’t care about homosexuals at all, but only pretend to.
(2) Novil has repeatedly made a point about downplaying the raised expectations. I guess this might be another case:

@ jb:
Also, the good guys are actually bad and the bad guys are actually framed or just misunderstood. No one should trust anything that came before, and the newest, youngest, and least-experienced have a better solution with no unforseen consequences.
@ jb:
That sounds more than a little vitriolic, to be honest. That being said, Zoey’s been an out-and-proud (if constantly dunked on and girlfriendless) lesbian since 2013, so it’s not like this comic has ever been shy about sexuality. I mean, look at Larisa – she sent nudes to her boyfriend and just kinda shrugged when it got sent across the country.
NEXT IS #1337
Things might be getting hot, but there are things more IMPORTANT and I have all my hopes up.

Teens have always experimented with their sexuality, either solo or with others, to try to deny this is disingenuous. Is it more likely these days with internet accessibility to sexual imagery? I doubt it. I remember back in the 1980’s what my then teenage generation was getting up to. And some of what was going on back then was wild.
Am I saying it’s fine and dandy that teens are having sex? No, I’m saying we have to be realistic and accept that it happens. Educating kids on the implications of having sex frankly and honestly is in my opinion the best way to deal with it. Teaching them that it’s dirty and wrong is both very harmful and dangerous.
@ Lord_Mosh:
I cannot agree more.
Stop stalling and start the porn!
Waiting for Cloud (or Richard) to barge in and become the butt of some joke.
Next strip is gonna be leet.
@ Lord_Mosh:
A point which is underlined by the statistics. The countries and/or states that have little or no sex-education during school, statistically have higher rates of teen pregnancy. For example, untill 2022 Texas didn’t have any sex-ed in the school curriculum because the extremely conservative christian state government thought that simply not telling kids about sex would make them not have sex until marriage. The result: The highest teen pregnancy and abortion rates in all of the USA.
So… Larisa really is here.
Eats popcorn This is interesting
Larisa knows Zoey’s golden rule: always have a board with you :))
Just in case someone forgot, these are Larisa’s sex toys:
http://www.sandraandwoo.com/2010/06/14/0173-a-look-into-the-mind-of-a-troubled-girl/
@ Randy:
“untill 2022 Texas didn’t have any sex-ed in the school curriculum” — it actually did. Even tfn.org’s unfavorable review details various changes in the ongoing Texas sex-ed materials from 1994-2017, for example.
“The result: The highest teen pregnancy and abortion rates in all of the USA.”
According to the CDC, in 2020 the Texas teen pregnancy rate was exceeded by Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
And while it is ninth (rather than first), Texas’s relatively high teen pregnancy rate is driven by multiple demographic factors, and it’s facile to try to attribute it all to simply its sex-ed curriculum.
@ Anthony Looyen:
It might not affect her relationship with Cloud for all we know she maybe polyamorous as well in which someone likes having multiple partners. Think the popular animator on YouTube Jaiden from Jaiden Animations where she is asexual and also is AreoAce and that is cool and doesn’t affect anyone at all tbh. Sandra will probably not mind having multiple partners as well as cloud having to share, though his mind was wandering else where a few chapters ago.
I hope this does not end with Sandra breaking up with Cloud.
Is this a Rubik’s cube for racoons?
@Clevershitter
There’s some activity toys for pets where you’d put some small snacks into them, and the dog/cat is to roll it around until the snacks drop out. Or where your cat is supposed to try and fish the snack out of a hole …
Looks like this is something like that.
Woo? Who’s that character? Don’t know him.
I’m kinda disappointed that Larissa didn’t whistle the FF7 victory fanfare.
Got feeling though Cloud was down with it at first when it was an idea but he now gonna get all jelouse and moody. It’s very common for people to have a fantasy of a polyamorous relationship or them and their partner swapping partners or getting involved in 3some/4some/orgy but find they don’t like it all in reality and can’t handle the jelousy which kills the relationship often due to the one of them not being able to cope with the emotional, long term real life consequences.
That or this turns out to all be a dream or one of Zoes friend fictions she told Sandra about and this is all Sandra reading it and getting freaked out.
As for Sandra discovering she bisexual um no not really anything new she’s always been very flirty, touchy feely and open with Larisa who is bassically her unofficial girlfriend. so it’s been established for a long time she’s drawn to both genders like just like Larisa just Sandra is more the girl next door type rather than the temptress
@clickbait: Thanks!
@Jabman: Don’t forget it’s Sandra who’s going to suffer in this arc – not Cloud nor Zoey.
@ Clevershitter:
It was never mentioned if cloud or zoey would suffer or not sp we can’t know the effects on them.
No, no, she’s got a point, Sandra: Zoey totally had your lips from before but now she is totally winning over your heart as well. Mwahahah! Embrace the gay!
It does occur to me, though, that Woo hasn’t been in this comic a whole lot lately… Like, he’s only been in 12 strips over the course of just as many months… It’s a bit sad to see one of the title characters become a minor character…
@ Tony5n:
I wouldn’t say casually… That’s been part of her plan all along. XD
Still waiting for the moment Sandra wakes up from this dream. I remember Novil telling her he’s going to be mean to her in the next arc.
The Arc overall is a nice nod towards Pride Month though 🙂

Glad to see Woo getting some spotlight…
Bahamuttone wrote:
I would amend “discover” to “explore” to better suit your point.
Some people seem quick to jump the gun, saying teens kissing is tantamount to sex, that planning a party with those they’re attracted to must mean it’s an orgy, and that considering a same-sex partner must make you bi. None of the characters seems to have a well-though-out agenda beyond being near those that make them feel good and trying to win their attention and favor. That seems to be the universal teen experience going back to the Romantic Era.
Personally, I knew I was gay from around their age and never got curious about guys, but I’m in the distinct minority. Almost every lesbian I’ve known has at least tried seeing if they could be into guys and plenty of the straight people I’ve known have “experimented” with the same sex. Some of them discovered they were at least a little bi, but a lot of them didn’t.
The fact is, we are attracted to people for all kinds of reasons and that is hard enough to figure out when you’re an adult with a fully developed brain. But teens haven’t finished developing, particularly the area that assesses cause and effect. Add in raging hormones and you get all kinds of people thinking they’re sexually into people they merely admire or love in a different context.
Remove orientation from it for a moment. Who doesn’t have someone they had a crush on in their adolescence that they can’t believe they liked now? Maybe a friend that was better kept that way, maybe someone only attractive in the context of that time, maybe even someone completely inappropriate like a teacher. And the other direction, who doesn’t have SOMEONE they didn’t pay as much attention to at the time but are at least curious about what could have been?
We are always evolving and our relationships and interests in others most of all, because we’re social creatures. Maybe Sandra’s sexuality is evolving or maybe she’s just caught up in finding a better way to relate to Zoey than their previous antagonism and she’s going to decide what she really wants from her is friendship. That’s up to her creators. But in terms of realism, the idea that she should just know what she wants immediately and forever simply isn’t what being a teen feels like for most people.
While the internet is not famous for the high quality of comments, I must congratulate part of the community here and especially Anne for their thoughtful comments.
I find it also great how Novil walks a fine line between pandering to the audience and keeping it light but nuanced. In fact, I started reading this webcomic because of the comic strip with the title “pandering to the audience”, http://www.sandraandwoo.com/2015/08/13/0709-pandering-to-the-audience/ and I still consider it as one of the defining comic strips 7 years later.
