Sandra is changing out of her Queen costume and gets into a rage because Richard came into her room uninvited
Maybe the Law of Cycles claimed Sandra before she turned into Walpurgisnacht.
Please let it be something else. Everything but not My Little Pony.
So, le’ts get things sorted out :
Sandra is the white Queen, and Woo is clearly a white Pawn .
In strip 870, we have to movement Queen d1-d2
Then, the Blacks plays Knight in f3 thus threatening the Queen.
So, it’s now the White’s turn to play… the smart thing to do is to escape, Sandra!
After an undetermined period of time, we get to strip 871 : after an undetermined number of moves, Black knight is now in d2.
So, what happened to Queen in d2 AND to Pawn in c2 ? If you look at Woo in the last case of strip 870, it looks like he has a strategy…

At first I thought the pony had gained a shoe, then I noticed it was Sandra’s tiara

Taking into consideration the last strip, Knight takes queen.

My best guess is that Sandra has decided to prank Richard and then gone outside with Woo.
Perhaps she’s in Tartaros.
We’ve only seen three chess pieces active: Queen, Bishop and opponents Knight (horse). Since the game is/was active, we have to assume that both kings are still in play. The knight was threatening the Queen, but since the kings were both out of sight it has been well possible that by the knights move it threatened both the queen and the king. Since the king should’ve been saved, the queen was taken by the knight. So since the opponent was composed of MLP-characters, she is held hostige in Rainbow Falls, the land where the Ponies dwell.
So we will see the nightmare pony addressing Richard with a brief explaination on the terms which must be followed in order for him to see Sandra again.
She went to get Larissa, who’s going slather the pony in barbecue sauce and spit-roast the bloody thing.
Knight moved to black captured the queen. What happened to Woo is the real question.
I suppose Sandra was captured like the black king in Petroff’s “Napoleon in Moscow” chess riddle.
(I remembered it from a chess book for children, written by Kolma Maier-Puschi, published in the GDR. Also discussed in this chess problem forum.)
My guess is she is hiding under her bed.
It’s funny. I did notice the chessboard pattern in the previous strip, and I didn’t put two and two together until this strip. Yes, the pony (I really can’t remember their names), is a knight’s move away from Sandra. So, my guess is that Sandra was “captured “. The thing is, was it like chess in The Prisoner, chess in History of the World Part 1, or Battle Chess? Was Woo a bishop? I had a hard time figuring that out.
Since the crown she was wearing is at the feet of the pony, my guess is that she was brought into the pony’s world. Or she’s with her boyfriend.

Sandra went to visit her mother again, with Woo.
Celestia’s henchmen abducted her and woo to torture them in her dungeon with fluffy feathers

Hmm… Maybe the pieces enter one by one. In that case Richard had better watch where he steps or he’ll be next. As to what happened… Sandra has obviously been captured (and taken somewhere), Woo, if he was a bishop and not a pawn, can run fast (at least diagonally) and has probably gone for help. How will the game be played out from there, and who will rescue Sandra? (Actually I liked the suggestion of a “god’s” game best, considering this comic.)
Sandra and Woo were transported to a magical land to act as it’s protectors. The Pony is just a toy, but the people say the height difference assumed it was real and figured ‘Good natured Giant protectors, awesome’. And they will be expected to fight a great evil, one that they will be able to comically vanquish indirectly, perhaps by ruining their evil country’s economy with all kinds of technological advancements (like water wheels,crop rotation and easily farmable goods)that she can look up with her phone capable of internet searches(because Enchanted taught us that magical alternate dimensions get great reception) then the deity’s in that world get a complaint filled by the racoon goddess to bring back the kid and racoon they kidnapped and they are returned Narnia style with the time difference restored.

Sandra and Woo have been transported to the Swamps of Sadness from The Neverending Story. If Sandra can solve a philosophical/paradox puzzle from the Turtle she can go home.
OR Sandra is trapped in the past, in Quantum Leap. With Woo as her guide, she must do right what almost went wrong, hoping that at the end of it her next leap will be the leap home.
OR Sandra and Woo are unleashed on Gaia, ready to drag Ilias and Viv along in the wake of their modern-era video-game-trained Lupin-the-3rd level mobile disaster.
Sandra is the new companion for the Dcotor and is now fightng the Darlcks in the dark ages.

So, a captured by an equestrian princess likely means that Sandra is currently on the moon.

Nah, I think she’s standing just off-panel as an anti-humorous conclusion in a rather pretentious attempt at humor.
My only guess is there’s already a Cease and Desist letter in the mail 😛
